Jackson Browne
Jackson Browne is an American singer, pianist, guitarist and a songwriter. He was born on October 9, 1948. His reflective lyrics have given him the title of the poster boy of the "California Confessional Singer-Songwriter movement" that evolved in 1960's, and 1970's. Browne made it to the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" through a fellow American music artist and a very good friend Bruce Springsteen. "Occidental College" on Los Angeles also honored him with "Doctorate of Music" title, for his astounding musical career which has always been a successful combination of personal artistry as well as social justice.

The exceptionally gifted lyricist, Browne signed a publishing contract with Nina Music. His written songs were performed by the singers; The Eagles, Tom Rush, Linda Ronstadt, Steve Noonan, Joan Baez and The Byrds. Brown joined the Tim Buckley's back-up band for a short time when he moved to Greenwich Village in New York. Later he created a pop band with Jack Wilce and Ned Doheny.

Jackson Browne signed a contract with "Asylum Records" in 1971 and released a self-titled album "John Browne" in 1972. The album included the piano-led track "Doctor My Eyes" which made it to Top 10 US singles chart. The songs such as "Song for Adam" and "Jamaica Say You Will" built up Browne's reputation as a very versatile and a very originally unique artist with deep thoughts touched by romantic flairs. The song "Rock me On the Water" from the same album made it to a notable radio-play. In the same year he went on a tour with Linda Ronstadt.

His Rene Magritte inspired album of 1974 entitled "Late for the Sky" rapidly grew his fan following with heart wrenching title song "For a Dancer" and the ultimate hit "Before the Deluge". The tracks featured some of the most amazing instrumentalists of all times, including; Jai Winding's piano, David Lindley's guitar and piano effects and Doug Haywood's stellar harmonies. Gathered, the magic was embedded in these enchanting tracks. Jackson Browne started his lifelong professional relationship with Warren Zevon, a singer/songwriter during the same time. He worked as a producer for Warren Zevon in his two Asylum albums and later he convinced David Geffer, Asylum's head, into giving Zevon a recording contract.

Jackson Browne got together with many of his fellow-artists and founded the anti-nuclear organization under the name "Musicians United for Safe Energy" after the Three Mile Island nuclear accident of March 1979. His next album "Hold Out" came out in 1980 and was a great success in U.S. pop chart albums. In the coming year he released biggest hit "Somebody's Baby" from the "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" soundtrack. It ranked #7 on Billboard Hot 100. It was followed by "Lawyers in Love" in 1983.This was marked by a significant change in his writing style, which took the turn into politics rather than personal.

These political protests were visible in Jackson Browne's music in his 1986 album "Lives in the Balance". It was a very harsh protest against U.S. policy in Central America regarding Reaganism. Among Browne's devoted fans, the album was a huge success, although it did not make it to the mainstream. The album had some flavor of instrumental.

Throughout the 1980's Jackson Browne performed in various benefit concerts for all the things he believed in. These included "Christic Institute", "Farm Aid", "Amnesty International", "Revolutionary Nicaragua" etc. His album that was released in the end of 80's was "World In Motion" which had even more political content.

Brown's next album came after a period of four years. The album was entitled "I'm Alive". The album was based on more personal ideas and perspective rather than controversial issues, and sold reasonably in the market. The track "Sky Blue and Black" from the album was used in the all time hit comedy drama series "FRIENDS" during the pilot episodes. In 1995 he sang with Jann Arden the song "Unloved" for her album "Living Under June". In 1996 his album "Looking East" was released, which couldn't make much of commercial success. "The Naked Ride Home" his next album came out in 2002.

Jackson Browne performed along with J.D. Souther and Michael Stanley at a fundraising concert for the democratic candidates of Ohio in 2006. He has appeared with Keb "Mo" and Bonne Raitt. He has also appeared with Bruce Springsteen once. In 2008, he performed at various appearances of John Edwards, in his support in Presidential Elections of 2008.

Inside Recordings released Brown's album "Solo Acoustics Vol. 1" in 2005. The album is made up of live recordings of many of his previously released tracks.
