All set to take place this summer, the Interlocken Music Festival returns this year with some of the biggest names of the industry. Those behind this festival pride themselves for the environment friendly nature of the festival. The organizers behind the festival, Peter Shapiro and Dave Frey are confident that the festival will be bigger and better this time. The Oak Ridge Estate has been confirmed as the venue and the event is all set to span four days and cater to an audience of over twenty thousand people.
The Interlocken Music Festival, also called the Lockn' Festival, is a celebration of pure and unadulterated music. The founders of the event wanted to focus on good quality music, jam sessions and performances that are free of theatrical additions. The show will feature two stages, and the end of one performance will signal the other artist to begin. There will be no overlapping stages, and the underlying concept behind the show is that there should be non-stop music for as long as the event goes on. The event will focus on sustainability as well, and hence it is dubbed as one of the most eco-friendly four day long music festivals.
The 2013 lineup of the festival included some of the hottest acts of the music industry. Artists such as, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Jimmy Cliff, The Black Crowes, Zac Brown and Keller & the Keels made the day. This year, the festival promises a similar lineup of more seminal artists and bands that music lovers are excited about. The confirmed acts for this year's festival include headliners such as, The String Cheese Incident, Phil Lesh and Friends, Bob Weir and Ratdog, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and The Allman Brothers Band. Some of the bands will be performing more than one day, and the fact that no two acts will overlap means that fans and attendees will be able to enjoy every performance.
Besides the music, the festival will have a plethora of other opportunities, where guests can relax. The Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) will be making a comeback; all those who want a time-off and need a soothing place to relax will be able to find ENO hammocks set up all around the festival site. Festival attendees can use the hammocks and also buy their own. There will also be a Disc Golf setup at the site whereby all those at the festival will be able to play the game with their friends for free. Food stalls will be open throughout for quick meals and there will also be various activities planned for children and families. Previous festivals have seen organizations such as Habitat for Humanity International and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation set up information stalls at the venue, where those attending the event could take out time to learn about these programs.
All in all, the festival is a celebration of the roots of music. Instead of aiming at dramatic entertainment, the festival claims to focus on quality. Last year, the fans were extremely pleased with the experience, the music and the general ambiance of the event. The festival usually spans over a couple of days, and the camp sites provided at the venue are safe and reliable. For all those who are looking for a small retreat, good music and a lot of fun, this festival seems to be the perfect event to attend. Peter Shapiro, one of the founders, has hinted that instead of trying to make the festival into "everything," they are focusing on making the festival more "identifiable and distinct." To attend this upcoming musical extravaganza, fans can now buy Interlocken Music Festival tickets today.
