Here Come The Mummies is a spectacular funk and R&B group from Nashville that has been active since 2000 and is widely acclaimed in the US and all over the world. Known for a smashing style of live performance, dressed completely as mummies and with a number of special effects, they have drawn crowds with their concerts often sold out in Here Come The Mummies tickets. They are associated with the record label Spinxter Records, through which they have released a number of live albums.
Here Come The Mummies is a band that performs as fully mummies and is made up of a number of professional musicians from Nashville, who play on stage at a number of concerts. The identities of the individual members are unknown, with many of them suspected as Grammy Award winning musicians. They have performed in several American cities, much to the delight of many concert goers.
The group is known for music and performances that are humorous, with their costumes and their names reflecting this. Tut, tenor sax player Mummy Rah, baritone sax player The Flu, trumpeter Teste Verde, bassist Ramses Mummy, trumpeter Bucking Blanco, baritone sax player Midnight Mummy, bassist The Pole and trumpeter B.B. Queen.
To date, Here Come The Mummies has released a number of albums. Their first album was released in 2002 and is titled as Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave. In 2003, they released their second album, Everlasting Party. Their third album came out five years later and was dubbed the Single Entendre. In 2009, they released their first live DVD, the Undead Live DVD. In 2010, they released the album Carnal Carnival, followed by 2011’s Bed, Bath & Beyond. Their latest album is 2013’s Cryptic, whose music can be heard live at their many upcoming concerts, enjoyed with Here Come The Mummies tickets.
They have also released two compilation albums; 2009’s Bob And Tom Dead Air Disc 2 and a song in the Fired Up! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, also released in 2009. Their famous song, Dirty Minds, was part of a number of TV series and shows, including Scrubs, The Loop and Big Shots. It has also been featured in the Fired Up! Soundtrack. In 2009, they played live on the set of the Bob and Tom show and then played again in 2010. Since then, they have appeared numerous times and are one of the favorite guests on the show.
They are also known for playing a memorable concert at famous venue, On The Waterfront, often with such bands as Stone Temple Pilots and Billy Idol. They are supported by a fictitious back story with each of their members have a fictional mummy bio. The band itself has its own bio, which states that they were discovered by a Professor Nigel Quentin Fontenell Dumblucke near Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia, who was digging a ruin and found a group of undead Egyptian mummies playing music he termed Terrifying Funk From Beyond the Grave.
Their fictional history continues, stating that they have been cursed to wander the planet, searing for the ultimate music that may put their spirits to rest, presumably for a crime committed during the era of the Pharaohs. From their founding in 2000, they have gone on to open for such artists and bands as Al Green and P–Funk, as well as perform at such festivals as Super Bowl Village 2012 and Summerfest. They are also regulars on The Bob and Tom Show.
