The ethereal and emotional Montreal based indie rock band, Half Moon Run is currently in the limelight. Now the band is coming to your own city for a performance at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, Toronto. Half Moon Run caught the attention of tastemakers and programmers when they started singing mainstream. At events like Great Escape, CMW, SXSW and M for Montreal, the band presented live performances and wowed their audience. They were named as the “Buzz Kings of M for Montreal Festival”.
For Half Moon Run, the year 2012 started off in late March with the launch of “Dark Eyes”, their debut studio album. The album made it to the Canadian charts right off. This was followed by a number of concerts all across Canada, which earned them a bigger fan base. The album included hits such as Full Circle and Call Me in the Afternoon.
Dark Eyes was released through the Indica Records and the song Full Circle was featured at number 29 spot on Canadian rock and alternative chart the same year. The next year, the track was chosen for trailer of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Song ‘Call Me in the Afternoon’ from the same album made it to nineteen spot at Canadian rock and alternative chart in 2013 as well. In July of 2013, Half Run Moon released another single by the name of Unofferable, yet another song that was received well by both, the audience as well as the critics.
Eight months after the release of their debut album, Half Moon Run signed to Glassnote Entertainment Group, joining Phoenix, Temper Trap and Mumford & Sons for the international release of ‘Dark Eyes’. After its global release in 2013, the album received rave reviews. In December of 2012, the announcement was made by the Glassnote team, “The team is excited to present the latest addition to the roster of independent albums with the signing of Half Moon Run, the Montreal based indie rock band”.
Half Moon Run went on thirty two days concert spree across Europe, consisting of thirty two gigs. This included performance at festivals in UK, Germany and France. The band planned on performing around Canada afterwards, rocking the stage at summer festivals in Quebec and other cities. They toured the world for next six months and opened for famous bands such as in North America for Metric and in Europe and UK for Patrick Watson. They also played at festivals like Inrock Festival and Iceland Airways. This was followed by a series of sold out concerts in Quebec, at locations like Port-Cartier, Laval, Sorel-Tracy, Sept-Iles etc. It was followed by their March appearance at the SXSW Music Festival. Before they released Dark Eyes internationally, the band embarked on a one month long tour in Australia. The busy schedule of the band continues as they plan to release their second studio album while still continuing performing live for their fans.
