Sometimes known as The Delaware Destroyers, the band's next album Move It On Over came out in the year 1978. During the 1970's The Destroyers were based in Boston, and Thorogood was a good friend of JimmyThackeray of the Nighthawk Blues Band from Washington DC. Both enjoyed playing guitar for each other's band, by exchanging guitar patch cords. Their relationship became even stronger when one of Nighthawk's bass playerJan Zukowesky helped Thorogood in his set at the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia PA in 1985.
Thorogood and his band became famous for the rigorous amount of tours they carried on in the US, like one show in one night, and in one new state. He was highly exposed when he supported the Rolling Stones in 1980, during their US tour. After his contract expired with Rounder Record, he signed with EMI America Records and soon produced his best song Bad to the Bones in 1882. He also took out an album of the same name. This song has had the opportunity of being played in commercials and on television and the films as background music. Like on the tv drama Terminator2: Judgment Day, Miami Vice and Problem Child 2 and so many other programs. This song has also been used as an introduction to the film Major Payne. Rock'n Roll Racing game also plays this song. So much so it is played by the Mississippi State University during its pre football game festivities. Commercial for Buick Grand National advertisements played Bad to the Bones too in 1984.
