Back in high school, Frank Turner formed a band called Kneejerk. Together, they performed live at various local events across the UK but the group didn’t survive for long. After listening to bands like Iron Maiden, Frank became more inclined towards metal music. In 2001, he joined the post-hardcore band, Million Dead. They released a few albums and worked for almost four years. Soon Frank realized that it was now time to go solo. He began to get gigs as a solo artist and his fan following increased extensively. Frank stated in an interview, “It seemed like the logical thing to do to try my hand at playing these songs more publicly and more concertedly than before.”
Today Frank Turner is a successful solo artist who frequently makes concert tours along with his band. A variety of instruments like harmonica, piano, percussion, organ, mandolin, guitar and drums can be seen on stage every time there is a live Frank Turner concert. In his music, a fusion of genres like alternative rock, folk, hardcore punk and folk punk can be heard. Other than the amazing vocals, Frank Turner is also known for his insightful lyrics, each song telling a different story. Come attend his upcoming concert and take home some good memories.
After doing a variety of gigs at various venues across the UK and the US, Frank Turner finally released his debut album in 2007. The record titled, Sleep is for the Week impressed a number of internet publications such as Punknews.org, Allmusic, Rocklouder and Rockmidgets.com. The song, “Vital Signs” turned out to be a smacking hit earning the artist a solid spot in the music industry. The very next year, Frank came up with another one called, Love Ire &Song. A number of tracks like “Long Live the Queen,” “Photosynthesis” and “Reasons Not to Be an Idiot” received the most airplay on the radio and television. Kerrang!, Chartattack, NeuFutur.com and several others praised his amazing musical approach repeatedly.
The artist has recently released a new album titled, Tape Deck Heart. The record debuted at number two on the UK Album chart and produced hits like, “The Way I Tend To Be,” “Losing Days” and “Recovery.” A number of well-known magazines and internet publications including NME, The Guardian, Sputnikmusic, PopMatters, and The A.V Club have all written positive reviews about Frank’s new album. The artist himself says about the album that, “there’s a lot of stuff on this record about loss and failure in relationships, about what happens when something that was supposed to be timeless runs out of time.” Anyone can relate his or her life with each song of Tape Deck Heart.
Frank Turner won a Kerrang! Award in 2010 for “No Half Measures.” The very next year he took away multiple AIM Awards for “Best Live Act” and “Hardest Working Artist.” On the whole he has been nominated for 10 different awards.
