Everclear is an American alternative rock band from the city of
Everclear’s original lineup was made up of vocalist and guitarist Art Alexakis, bassist and vocalist Craig Montoya and percussionist, drummer and vocalist Greg Eklund. This trio started the band and was then responsible for seeing it through some tough times to become one of the best emerging bands in alternative rock music. Everclear’s first album was so popular that it was certified platinum by the RIAA after having sold over a million copies. At this time, this band’s music was being compared to that of Nirvana and it was playing live shows alongside bands such as the Foo Fighters. In 1997, the band released its next album So Much for the Afterglow and its music was part of the soundtrack of the hit movie, Scream 2. Some songs was also part of Romeo + Juliet by Baz Luhrmann and the band then went on a US tour followed by a successful tour in Australia. This band also led to a Grammy Award nomination as well as the highly coveted Billboard Modern Rock Band of the Year Award. The album itself was certified double platinum and charted high on the Billboard album charts.
In 2000, the album Songs from an American Movie, Vol 1: Learning How To Smile was released and it was soon certified platinum by the RIAA. It also resulted in the hit single Wonderful and the same year, the album Songs from an American Movie, Vol 2: Good Time for a Bad Attitude was released. The Everclear song, Rock Star, was part of the soundtrack of the same movie and resulted in much fame for the band.
Today, Everclear’s lineup consists of lead vocalist and lead guitarist Art Alexakis, rhythm guitarist Dave French, keyboardist Josh Crawley, bassist Freddy Herrera and drummer Sean Winchester. This is a band that has been the Billboard Modern Rock Band of the Year and thus definitely a band whose music is best heard live with Everclear tickets in hand.
