Eileen Ivers
Eileen Ivers is a known violin player. She plays a blue electric fiddle which is one of a kind instrument with its unique sound and ambience. With her roots in Irish traditional music since the age of eight, Eileen has won nine All-Ireland fiddle championships, a tenth on tenor banjo and over 30 championship medals, making her one of the most awarded persons.
Early Life and Childhood
Eileen Ivers was born in New York City on 13 July 1965. She was born to Irish parents and grew up in The Bronx. She spent summers in Ireland and took up the fiddle at the age of nine. Her teacher was the Irish fiddler Martin Mulvihill.
She toured with Mick Moloney's band The Green Fields of America, founded in 1977. She graduated magna cum laude from Iona College in New York and has done post-graduate work in mathematics.
After graduating magna cum laude in Mathematics from Iona College and while continuing her post-graduate work in Mathematics, Eileen fully immersed herself in the different genres of music which she experienced growing up in New York.
Perhaps it was the mathematical mind coupled with her passion for music which contributed to what has become the signature sound featured in much of Eileen's recordings since the late 1980's.
Start of the Career
At that time, Joanie Madden was the founding member of Cherish the Ladies. Eileen was asked to join the group and be on tour for several years.
Her greatest fame came when she replaced the original fiddler in Riverdance and began to tour with the Riverdance Irish dance troupe in 1995, taking solos on stage. Her blue electric fiddle is certainly eye-catching, after which her album Wild Blue was named. It was custom-made for her by ZETA Music.
Miche?l ? S?illeabh?in is an Irish composer who uses folk, classical and jazz influences. Eileen has recorded with him on the television series River of Sound and on his album Becoming (1998).She also recorded a traditional air for the soundtrack of the film Gangs of New York, titled 'Lament for Stalker Wallace'. She also appears on the soundtrack for the film Some Mother's Son.

1999 - Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul
In 1999 Eileen established a touring production to present the music which now encompasses Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul. This mix of African and Latin percussion and bass, Irish instrumentalists, and American soulful vocals headlines major performing arts centers, guest stars with numerous symphonies, performances at major festivals worldwide and on national and international television.
