East Village Opera Company
The East Village Opera Company is a New York City musical group that mixes opera with rock 'n' roll. East Village Opera Company is established by vocalist Tyley Ross and arranger/multi-instrumentalist Peter Kiesewalter.

AnnMarie Milazzo was selected to provide female vocals. EVOC consists of eight other members; two guitarists, a bassist, a percussionist, and a string quartet. The 11-piece rock band plays traditional opera pieces, such as 'La Danza' and 'Vesta La Giubba', and then breaks into either a funky disco beat or heavy metal guitars.

EVOC made their debut performance in March, 2004, at Joes Pub in Manhattan. Since then, this band has been rocking the music community by the unique style of blending modern music with opera.

Albums
La Donna was EVOCs first album which was released under the Canal Records label in 2004. On this album, Ross and Kiesewalter mix classic Itallian tune and Neapolitan folk songs with the 70s rock and disco.

The album was arranged and produced by Peter Kiesewalter, vocal arrangements by Tyley Ross, mixed by Wayne Bartlett at Bartmart Audio, Ottawa, and mastered by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound, New York. Kiesewalter and vocalist Tyley Ross throw caution to the wind on La Donna, a collection of rearranged opera classics polished to modern day perfection.

La Donnas launching point was the soundtrack of Derek Diorios 2001 film, The Kiss of Debt. The disc treats arias and songs such as Vesti la giubba, La Donna e mobile, and Ave Maria with disco beats, blazing guitars and defiantly cheesy '80's-style synthesizer flourishes.

East Village Opera Company was EVOCs debut self titled album, released on September 27, 2005, under the Decca Records label. The album was produced and recorded by Neil Dorfsman, a Grammy Award winner, and Symphonic portions were taken care by Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.

EVOCs third album, Olde School, released in 2008. Here, EVOC has once again taken a selection of opera arias and re-imagined them as popular songs by using full symphony orchestra, R&B horns, and choir alongside the groups guitars, drums, string quartet, keyboards, and singers.

This entirely familiar and boldly original record starts with a band and ends with whisper, thus giving its listeners a tour through centuries worth of popular music leading them to the nexus of European and American culture.

The record hearkens back to a pre-digital age when musicians played real instruments with an anything goes approach and didnt care about the song length or market demographic. And being the unique one, EVOC headlines around the world in both electric rock clubs and as well as some of the most prestigious classical concert halls.

EVOCs recording in stages and in different studios, around the world, has made them embrace technological innovation as files, sessions, scores, and mixes are all done in the digital realm and sent from studio to studio via internet lines.

They have given quite a number of notable performances so far, like, their performance of Jokey Club del Per?, Lima, in Peru, on September 2008; Royal Ontario Museum Re-opening Gala, Toronto, Ontario, June 2007; Vertice de la Cultura del Museo de La Naci?n, Lima, Peru, April, 2007; Miss USA 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland; New York City Opera Opening Night Gala, 2005 & 2006; A&Es Breakfast with the Arts, December 25, 2005; Mod Club Theatre, Toronto, Ontario, 2005.

The East Village Opera Company electrifies the classics for a new generation by first playing traditional opera pieces and later breaking them into either funky beats or heavy guitars. Tyley Ross and Peter Kiesewalter understand that the key to successfully dressing opera arias in rock & roll regalia is to respect the music's emotional core.

EVOC brings the towering emotion and timeless musicality of opera into the 21st century with its inventive, hard-hitting arrangements of operas greatest hits.

The band has quite a market in the music world as the number of their fans is increasing day by day. Musicians Peter Kiesewalter and Tyley Ross take classic opera tunes and back them with rock instrumentation and have often drawn comparisons to other contemporary artists in pop culture including the Trans Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, or Metallicas Symphony and Metallica (S&M) album.

The band has also performed at esteemed events such as the Sundance Film Festival, the Miss USA pageant (nationally televised on NBC), and the world-premiere of the Da Vinci Code in Hong Kong.

EVOC has also been celebrated at the 2006 Emmy's with an award for their PBS Special EVOC LIVE, and they have received commissions to pen new works from both the New York Public Theatre and the New York City Opera, for whom they have also performed at Lincoln Center. Live, the group's charisma is inescapable and infectious.
