He quit the gang and got a job as a telemarketer for the Los Angeles Times, where he moved into management and met his wife-to-be. She was the one who persuaded him to try his humor on stage. After years of club dates, he was chosen by BET as the first host of Comic View and subsequently got additional recognition with two very adult oriented HBO specials.D.L. However, by the following season, the show was moved to the low-rating TGIF segment on Friday nights and the ratings tanked. ABC cancelled the show in 2000, but it was granted a reprieve by UPN, which ran it for an additional two seasons.
