Details of Dj Quik and the Ticket Luck value
Better known as DJ Quik, David Martin Blake was born in Compton, California on January 18, 1970. Blake received his first turntable after he graduated in 9th grade, and this is when he played as DJ in different clubs in Southern California and also started selling his mixtapes that he made at his home.
DJ Quik was mainly influenced by Funk and Soul artists like Roger Troutman and George Clinton. After attaining enough exposure, he was then signed by Profile Records in 1990. A year later Quik released his debut album Quik is the Name on Profile Records.
Two R&B singles from his debut album, Born and Raised in Compton and Tonite became his first two singles that charted in top 20 R&B Chart. Itself the album peaked at #10 spot on the albums chart and became his first Platinum album as well.
The following year he released his next album Way 2 Fonky, which didnt receive as much success as his debut album did. In fact none of his following albums attained as much success as his first album did. His second album gave out hits like Way 2 Fonky and Jus Lyke Compton and received certified Gold Status by RIAA.
DJ Quik released his third studio album Safe & Sound in 1995 which debuted at #14 spot on the Billboard 200, which is also its peak position. The album gave out hits like Safe & Sound, Dollaz & Sense and also his diss track Let You Havit.
Apart from giving solo performances DJ Quik has also collaborated with the likes of Snoop Dogg on the tracks, Doin Too Much, Bussn Rock and Dont Tell; Whitney Houston on Fine; 2Pac on Late Night and Heartz of Men; Kurupt on Cant Go Wrong; Adina Howard on Freak and U Know It; with Jay Z on Justify My Thug; Xzibit on Sorry Im Away So Much; on Spur of the Moment with Ludacris and with 8 Ball & MJG on Buck Bounce and Jankie and with many others. He collaborated with Snoop Dogg again on Press Play from his recent release Ego Trippin.
He used his original name in credits after he produced 2Pacs Heartz of Men which was included in 2Pacs highly acclaimed album All Eyez on Me.
In addition to that he also produced some other tracks of the album for which he was not credited. Quik also produced several tracks for Truth Hurts including a track titled Im Not Really Lookin from Truth Hurts debut LP titled Truthfully Speaking.
Truth Hurts top ten hit Addictive was also produced by Quik. Quiks both personal and professional life faced a tragic dilemma when one his closest friends Mausberg was murdered on July 4, 2000 that was followed by the death of another of his friends Daryl Reed.
Quik released his fifth studio album Balance & Options in 2000, and didnt fetch him much commercial success. Due to insufficient sales Arista Records was forced to drop Quik from the label and since then Quik remained unsigned until he was signed by Under Ark 21 Records later on.
Under Tha Influence that was his first album under Ark 21 Records, which was released in 2002, didnt give him much commercial success as well.
