Not a chance. According to the acclaimed musicians Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, music defines them and it decided for them whether to quit or continue. Well they plan to continue for some more time and have formed an offshoot band Dead & Company. The touring band also includes John Mayer who has long been a fan of the Rock n Roll Hall of Famers. Originally a ten-date tour, the band has added more stops in the itinerary, Dead & Company tickets for which are now available.

Grateful Dead – Enduring Survivors and Psychedelic Era's Ambassadors
Boasting a cult following, the Dead found mainstream success and became superstars on their own terms. The most favorite band of the psychedelic era, they cemented their place in the industry with amazing lyrics and mind-blowing melodies. Having released 13 studio albums, their every effort produced unique music laced with country rhythms, bluegrass and folk. Grateful Dead's music was constantly played on radio but it was live shows and excessive touring that earned them a cult following that fondly calls itself “Deadheads”. They popularized the concept of jam band and in the process inspired many songwriters and underground bands. Their diehard fans fill arenas and continue to sell out tickets to their concerts.
The news of Dead members' resurrection and upcoming tour has once again spurred hope in the fans and they now look forward to a new album as well. John Mayer is ready to bring a lot of energy to these shows and his upbeat attitude and enthusiasm is contagious. As Bob Weir stated in an interview, “It is fun to have someone who's cranked up about our music and gratifying to see somebody discover our work - a new initiate into our way of doing things”.
