Born on April 9, 1980 as Thomas Hubner in Erfurt; this young lad has emerged from central Germany. His emergence as the next Rap phenomena has rejected the theory that the nation's western region is the sole breeding ground for successful hip-hop MCs and DJs.

He also became the first rap star from central Germany to make it big in the mainstream industry. Although he originally studied to become a hairdresser, his deep love and passion of music led him to abandon that career for hip-hop at the age of fifteen.

Thomas started making music in 1995 as Clueso and worked on the compilation Erfurt Projekt in 1996. The name Clueso was taken after Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther. In 1998 he got to know his future manager Andreas Welskop and soon after issued the first Clueso solo release, the BMG-issued Clusolo.

He moved to the 10vor10 Studios in Cologne with him in 1999. A year later he signs a label contract at Four Music and releases Text und Ton in 2001. Around that time, he started live performances as well and performed with many famed singers and bands.

Some of his most memorable early performances includes the one with Curfew at the MTV Hip Hop Open in Stuttgart and his impressive act at Beats for Life in Cologne.

Clueso moved back to Erfurt in 2002 to record the Rowdy Club Tape 2002. He started working on his next album Gute Musik which was finished in 2004. Gute Musik saw the Clueso collaborating with great artists like Blumentopf, Steer M, Tilmann Jarmer, Delhia, Tim Neuhaus and Jurgen Kerth. The whole album was in German and does not contain any English tracks.

Another distinguish feature was that Clueso concentrated more on singing rather than rapping in this album. This shift from rap towards more conventional vocals and reggae-inspired rhythms proved his versatility and earned him critical acclaim besides good sales and audience's love.

The year 2005 witnessed Clueso making his nation proud when he represented his native Thuringia region in the annual Bundesvision Song Contest with the track Kein Bock zu Geh'n. He also became a partner of Start Ab, the biggest non-commercial remix contest in Europe in same year.

His third LP was released a year later that too earned him respect among musical circles. Titled Weit Weg which means far away in English, this blockbuster release of 2006 ensured that the success is not very far away from this talented musician. Next came Again, the album was released by Four Music. This proved his most matured work till date and was penned faultless by the critics.

Clueso has made many sell out tours with his band over the last few years. He has performed in over 120 clubs and festival gigs over the last two years with a total crowd of 300.000.

His 2004 performance in large halls in the preliminary program of the Fantastic Four on Much Pleasure Tour and his appearance as Special Guest on the invitation of perhaps the greatest and best German songwriter Herbert Gronemeyer remains one of the most memorable of his entire career.

Clueso has also joined forces with many great singers and musicians for albums and concerts. He has collaborated with the likes of Max Herre, Flowin'Immo, New Telephatics and Razkajam. His association with Ralf C. Mayer on Gute Musik also bore fruitful results as he has a success graph of handling artists like Xavier Naidoo and Die Fantastischen.

The obsession of Clueso has made him to achieve great musical sense in the age of twenty seven. He is not among those who sit on their laurels and enjoy the success. Rather he is a hard working artist who love to explore new dimensions with every new project.

His recent work is a clear proof of this as it reflects the variety of Clueso's music by changing mood and style continuously. His music varies between hardcore Rap and hip hop to the influences of chilled pop, soul, funk and reggae.
