Born on May 5, 1989, Christopher Maurice Brown - better known as Chris Brown, is a multi-talented American. His talent ranges from being a hip-hop and R&B singer to dancer and actor. In 2005, he released his who released his number-one debut single "Run It!" (according to the Billboard Hot 100) which was produced by Scott Storch and featured Juelz Santana. His self-titled debut album set off four successful top ten and top twenty hits in the United States. According to Nielsen SoundScan, so far, the album has sold three million copies worldwide and 1,920,665 copies in the United States.

An offspring of Joyce Hawkins and Clinton Brown, residents of a small town of Tappahannock, Virginia, Brown was born and brought up there along with another sibling. The artists that his parents played on the home radio, such as Michael Jackson and Sam Cooke, impressed Brown. A dancer since the age of two, Brown was unaware of his vocal talents until the age of eleven. He was interested in becoming a rapper, before becoming a vocalist. At thirteen, Brown was exposed to the masses by a local production team who visited his father's gas station during their hunt for new talent. Since then, he began his recording career and moved to New York, staying there for two years by now.

Brown left school in late 2004 to begin working on his self-titled debut album, Chris Brown, which was released on November 29, 2005. His debut single ?Run It!? was on top ranking in the United States, New Zealand, and Australia. After ?Run It!?, ?Yo (Excuse Me Miss)? became Brown?s second top 10 hit in the US hitting at number 7 and number 13 in the UK. It has been certified platinum by the RIAA. His third single ?Gim?me that? was released in March 2006 which featured Lil? Wayne for a remix, in the beginning it was not included on the Chris Brown album, but was added later. The single debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number 80 and hiked up the charts abruptly. Chris also co-directed his music videos for ?Yo (Excuse Me Miss)? and ?Gim?me that?. His fourth single is the ballad ?Say Goodbye? which is also a part of the Step-up Soundtrack.

On June 13, 2006, Brown released a DVD entitled ?Chris Brown?s Journey? which shows recording of him traveling in London and Japan, getting ready for his first visit to the Grammys, behind the scenes of his music videos and bloopers. On August 17, 2006, Brown and Ne-Yo co-headlined the 28-city Up Close and Personal Tour.

Brown quickly began production for his second studio album ?Exclusive?, soon after ending his summer tour with Ne-Yo. The album was to be released on August 28, 2007 but was postponed till November 6, 2007.

The single "Wall To Wall" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 96 and has escalated to number 79, since then. It ranked on number 22 on the Billboard R&B and Hip-Hop Chart being his lowest charting song up to now. The song "Kiss Kiss", featuring and produced by T-Pain, was chosen as the second single. The music video was shot totally at Florida International University in Miami, Florida in the summer of 2007. The song has so far been doing much better than "Wall To Wall", which has boomed at number 1 on the Hot 100, harmonizing Brown's utmost position since his debut single "Run It!."

Brown has acted in UPN's ?One on One? and The-N's ?The Brandon T. Jackson Show? on its pilot episode. Additionally, Brown landed a small role as a gang nerd in the fourth season of FOX's ?The O.C? in January 2007. Brown made his film debut in the dance movie ?Stomp the Yard? - together with Ne-Yo, Meagan Good and Columbus Short in January 2007. Brown then performed in ?This Christmas? - a family drama starring Regina King, released on November 21, 2007. On July 9, 2007, Brown appeared in an episode of MTV's ?My Super Sweet 16? celebrating his 18th birthday in New York.
