The Rolling Stone Magazine ranked the group at 81st position on its '100 Greatest Artists of All Times' list. They were also one of the favorite groups of the U.S President and were graced with the opportunity of performing before him at Whitehouse many a times. They also delighted the Queen of England with their performance. An addition to this list is the performance that they made at Tony Blair's farewell party in London in 2007.
The 1959 release by the group 'There Goes My Baby' was the beginning of what is termed as the Golden Years for the Drifters. The single was ranked at number one position on US R&B chart. 'This Magic Moment' was another hit song by the group which came out in 1960. It is one of the best known songs by the artists and was ranked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track was also featured in the film, The Sandlot and used in the television show, The Sopranos.
