Born on September 16, 1946 in Alcoy Spain, Camilo Sesto rose to the fame as a Spanish singer and composer during 70s and 80s. Sesto was renowned for his well sung and composed pop and rock songs and ballads, and became the most successful Spanish male singer of that time, as he is now. Initially Sesto began his music career as a singer by singing in two local pop bands, and soon enough he took part and won a TV Show contest that was held in Madrid. Before turning in to a full time singer and composer, Sesto also played a brief role in the Spanish adaptation of Hamlet by Shakespeare. As he chose singing as his primary profession, he joined forces with the producer Jaun Pardo, later on. During his career, Sesto went on Hiatus for few years in 1987, in order to look after his son.
After choosing music as his profession, then aspiring singer, headed over to Los Angeles in 1970, where he started learning English. There he also starred in a musical named Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1975.
Upon arriving in America, Sesto released several chart topping hits over the years, taking him to the heights of success. Some of the hits included Melina, Amor-Amar, Algo de mi, Quieres ser mi Amante?, Perdoname, Jamas, Amor de mujer and Donde estes. Following these successful hits, Sesto earned great amount of fame all over the Latin American along with Spain. With his heart and soul being put in every song that he composed, sang, produced and interpreted, Sesto fame grew more and more due to his out class work. Sesto also collaborated with Colorina in producing a hit pop ballad with her for her album titled Cerca de ti. With him being at the top of the food chain when it came to Spanish pop music, Sesto's fame also crossed borders, and was able to established a sound fan base in countries like, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Italy and United States. Increasing fame led to point where fan's crowned him with the title of 'Camilo Sesto Superstar'.
Although Sesto is mainly famous for his Spanish songs, but during past few years, he also released his songs that he sang in English, Italian and Valencian. Moreover, he released some of his albums, entirely recorded in English.>br/>
Sesto once again went to hiatus as he was diagnosed with some liver disease, but after he made his recovery from a Liver transplant back in 2003, he made his comeback to the music industry; bringing smile on the faces of hundreds of his fans worldwide. He also released his comeback album titled Alma, which also included some songs in English.
After a lifelong career as a singer, Sesto has finally decided to say good bye to his fan as he has announced his retirement concert tour in September of this year. His Retirement tour started on October 09, 2009 in New York at Teatro United Palace.
