Formed in the early 2000s, Brand New are a rock band from Merrick, New York on Long Island. They have released three albums till now. Their third album, The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, was released in US on November 21, 2006. The band's first song to see momentous airplay was "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows", falling into many radio stations with heavy rotations during the 2003 summer. An interview was conducted in On February 12, 2007, and Jesse stated that they were going to make another album.

History
Formation
In the late 1990s Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney and Brian Lane were all members of The Rookie Lot, a post-hardcore band, along with guitarists Brandon Reilly, who would go on to play guitar for The Movielife and front Nightmare of You, and Alex Dunne, now plays guitar for Crime In Stereo.

Your Favorite Weapon
After signing a single album deal on Triple Crown Records, the band set to work on their debut, Your Favorite Weapon. The album was to be a mix of slightly altered rerecorded songs from their demos as well as several new ones. The album was produced by Mike Sapone and was a fair success. This allowed the band to tours and supports such bands as Taking Back Sunday, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, New Found Glory, Glassjaw, Incubus, Dashboard Confessional and Finch

Deja Entendu
The band's second album, Deja Entendu, was released in June 2003. The album contains slower, deeper, darker songs with a more polished sound and complex lyrics. The title is French, translating to "already heard," commenting on the band's opinion that all modern music sounds the same. The bands name "Brand New" is also a play on the same concept, but Jesse denied that saying it is just a coincidence. The album was produced by Steven Haigle.

The band has stated that eleven out of the twelve songs recorded for the album appeared on it - with only "Flying At Tree Level (Version 1.0)" left off, with the track later appeared on the Beer: The Movie compilation soundtrack, and "Play Crack The Sky" being a late addition.

The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
At the end of 2004, Brand New appeared on the cover of Alternative Press magazine, who had deemed their upcoming album the "most anticipated of 2005". In June 2005 their Web site was finally updated, announcing that the band had started recording and confirming that in early 2005 Lacey had been hospitalized for appendicitis.

In late 2005, the band started recording their highly-anticipated third album in Oxford, Mississippi with producer Dennis Herring, but later dropped him in favor of Mike Sapone. This album has helped in giving this band the title of "America's Radiohead" by Alternative Press magazine.

In late December 2006, an unusual video was released for the instrumental track "Untitled", also known as "--" consisted a man spray painting a wall with "evil and good are raging Inside me" and correcting it to give the album title. On January 16, 2007, "Jesus" was announced as being the "official" first single from the album.

From January to May, the band will tour Europe, USA and Canada, with a headline slot on the UK's Give It a Name tour alongside HIM and Jimmy Eat World. They were featured in Alternative Press, a cover story for Rock Sound, Kerrang, and NME. In August they are lined up to play the Radio1/NME stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals which supports their growing popularity in Britain. On March 20, 2007, the band released information that an Australian tour will be happening in June 2007.
