The band formed in 1984, by two high-school friends - Jim Cuddy (guitarist/vocalist) and Greg Keelor (guitarist/vocalist). Before forming the band Blue Rodeo, both had experienced a few failed attempts. However, soon, with Cleave Anderson, Bob Wiseman, and Bazil Donovan, Cuddy and Keelor formed Blue Rodeo and released their debut album Outskirts in 1987 with the Warner Music Group. Ever since, the band has been signed with Warner Music Canada but have hopped somewhat in the USA and other markets as well, mostly on Warner Brothers, Rounder; whereas, recently, the band re-signed with Warner Brothers International for the world.
The band's current line-up incorporates the vocalists and guitarists Cuddy and Keelor, bassist Donovan, drummer Glenn Milchem, and the multi-instrumentalist Bob Egan. Additionally, the Blue Rodeo members have also worked widely with other prominent Canadian artists, such as Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan, Burton Cummings, Cowboy Junkies, Kathleen Edwards, The Sadies, Great Big Sea, Ron Sexsmith, The Tragically Hip and Skydiggers. Other than releasing twelve full length studio albums, Blue Rodeo has also released many side projects and all the collaborations as well. In addition, both Cuddy and Keelor have also released many solo albums too.
