The members of the hip-hop group include Zico, Taeil, B-Bomb, Jaehyo, U-Kwon, Kyung and P.O. The debut track released by Block-B was in April, 2011. It produced the hit single, Freeze! that made ripples in the South Korean pop music scene. The song's popularity led to the singers to make their television debut on KBS Music Bank.
With the group's increasing popularity it came forth with its second single in the same year. Titled Wanna B, the song received a response similar to that of its predecessor. Block B's debut mini album was released in June, 2011. Named New Kids on the Block, the performers promoted their album on television shows such as 100 Points Out of 100 and Younha's Starry Night. During this time, Block B also appeared in MTV's Match Up! Series along with K-pop band, B1A4.
In the following year, the R&B band released their debut full-length album, Blockbuster. Produced by LEON/Stardom Entertainment, the record made it to the 10th spot on the Billboard World Albums chart. Furthermore, the album made its way to the top 10 local charts of South Korea. Blockbuster comprises fourteen singles co-written by Zico, Kyung, Taeil, Cho PD and P.O.
Leaving Stardom Entertainment in 2012 due to the death of its CEO, Block B signed up with Seven Seasons. Soon afterwards Block B created a YouTube account and started uploading teasers of their upcoming single, Be the Light. After the release of this track, it reached number fourteen on the Gaon Cigital chart in its first week. This followed another mini album release in October, 2013. Titled Very Good, the record consists of hit songs such as When Where What How, Very Good and Nice Day. With this the mini record reached on top of the Gaon Album chart and reached the sixth place on the Billboard World Albums chart.
