Details of Black Angels and the Ticket Luck value
The Black Angels are a psychedelic rock band from Austin, Texas. Formed in May 2004, they derived their name from the Velvet Underground song ?The Black Angel?s Death Song. They played at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 5, 2007.
Among other venues, Black Angeles have set the stage on fire at SXSW 2006 & 2008 and All Tomorrow?s Parties 2008. The blues rock band The Black Keys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and The Warlocks were other touring partners.
Black Angeles? debut LP, entitled ?Passover?, was generally well received in the underground independent rock community. The album was noted for its dark tones and lyrical content.
A review Passover described the band as ?Walking in the shadows cast by Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized mastermind Jason Pierce?.
That review compared them to The Warlocks and Black Mountain, also invoking ?dirges? reminiscent of both The Velvet Underground and the 13th Floor Elevators.
Black Angeles? icon is a stylized/high-contrast negative image of Nico. In December 2007, the band announced on their blog that their second album is ready to be released in Spring 2008.
They released their second album, entitled Directions to see a Ghost, in May 2008. That same year, the band was featured on the soundtrack of the 2007 Kevin Bacon movie called Death Sentence.
Let it be known, the time has seen the future of rock n roll in shades of 1970s psychedelica. Guitars are hip again, beards are unkempt and music is looking back in order to move forward.
If the heavy and monotonous drone of Austin, Texas? Black Angels is anything to go by, all music-aficionados are in for a rocky ride indeed. For all Blanck Angeles? exuberant posturing, at least The Doors are still being played on FM radio.
Black Angels are probably still getting a slot on the AM bandwidth if it wasn?t for all the right wing lunatics clogging up the dial. The group is the sound of now and they are so good it hurts.
Their show at Brooklyn?s Luna Lounge was a dense barrage of riffs and vocals, dripping with reverb and soaring deep to the very edges of the room. It was more an experience than a collection of singles.
Black Angels deconstruct melodies and steal them away from the instruments, leaving them instead to a voice that?s road weary, honest and liberated.
Passover is the debut album from Texas rock band, issued in 2006. Directions to See a Ghost is the second album from the Black Angels which was released in April 2008.
Directions to See a Ghost featured many singles that proved smash hits. These include Doves, Surf City and Paladin?s Last Stand. Unlike the CD, the 3xLP contained bonus tracks such as Surf City (Revisited) and Paladin?s Last Stand.
Black Angels have signed to the label Suretone which is owned by Interscope. The band is expeted to release their forthcoming albums under the same label. Prefix Magazine called the album an easy candidate for one of the best records of the year.
