She has also appeared with the Beijing Orchestra and Macau Chamber Orchestra. Carneiro started her musical studies as a violist prior to receiving her conducting degree. She got her master's degree in orchestral conducting from Northwestern University and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Michigan. She has a number of recognitions to her name such as the Helen M. Thompson Award.
