An American musician who has formed several indie bands Benjamin Gibbard (born August 11, 1976) in Bremerton, Washington is known for his songwriting. Presently residing in Seattle, Washington, He is most notable as the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service; his other projects include All-Time Quarterback. He and his band Death Cab for Cutie are also known for their contributions to veganism and animal rights. According to recent information, Ben will have a small role in a John Krasinski film entitled Brief Encounters With Hideous Men. He is on a nationwide solo tour currently featuring David Bazan of Pedro the Lion and Johnathan Rice.

Ben Gibbard has a guest appearance on Jimmy Tamborello's Dntel album entitled Life Is Full of Possibilities, contributing vocals to the song (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan. He sang backing vocals on the song This is the Thrilling Conversation You've Been Waiting For for Harvey Danger's 2000 album King James Versions.
Ben has also played bass for Pedro the Lion on their 2001 tour, and had played drums on the song Carparts for The Long Winters' 2002 album, The Worst You Can Do Is Harm. Performed drums on label-mate's Kind of Like Spitting 2002 album, Bridges Worth Burning, and contributing vocals to the album's untitled last track.
He released a split on March 30, 2004 EP with Andrew Kenny in the Home Series on the Post-Parlo record label. He contributed vocals for Styrofoam's 2004 album Nothing's Lost on the track Couches in Alleys. Gibbard contributed vocals to a song (Handle With Care) on Rilo Kiley front woman Jenny Lewis's side project Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins's album, Rabbit Fur Coat. He is also the original bassist for the band Revolutionary Hydra, including Death Cab for Cutie band mate Chris Walla
Such Great Heights:
Such Great Heights is a song written by Iron and Wine. A cover of it was released January 21, 2003 by The Postal Service under the Sub Pop Records label. The EP includes the previously released title track Such Great Heights, one new track There's Never Enough Time and the two original tracks by The Shins and Iron & Wine of We Will Become Silhouettes and Such Great Heights, respectively.
The tracks were recorded in early 2002, written by Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, and include backing vocals in the studio recording by Jen Wood. It was the first CD released by The Postal Service, and a preview of Give Up, released a month later.
