The Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra is one of the foremost symphony orchestras in the US. John Farrer, conductor of the BSO, has also nine recordings to date, with the Royal Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Bournesmouth Symphony and the English Sinfonia. Each of these recordings have received heaps of praised from critics. He is presently recoding Johann Brahms’ four symphonies with the New Queen’s Hall Orchestra, based in London. He has also conducted a number of concerts with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, particularly a program that was attended by the President of Singapore, S. R. Nathan. With the New Queen’s Hall Orchestra, he performed a concert in benefit of the National Osteoporosis Society of Britain, which was attended by the ochestra’s patron, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
He has also performed with the San Francisco Symphony and is the director of the California Conducting Institute and the London Conducting Workshop at the Royal Academy of Music. The Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra is also home to many amazing musicians including Rebecca Brooks, the concertmaster, Paulette Shires, the principal viola player, Amy McGuire, the principal violin player, Nancy Ayala, the principal flutist, Brett Clausen, the principal oboe player, Paula Koerner, an English horn player, Michael C. Ranye, the principal trumpeter and Ron Christian, the principal trombone player.
