Born to a music artist, Andy was always interested in music and started performing at a very young age. He started taking piano and guitar lessons when he was a child and was already writing songs by the time he was fifteen. While still in school, he started performing regularly in local arenas in Los Angeles and quickly gained a name for himself as a street performer on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade. His journey from there to becoming the multi-platinum selling star did not take very long and his official debut record in 2011 brought him amazing success.
Andy Grammer released his self-titled debut album in June 2011. The two singles from this album, Keep Your Head Up and Fine By Me, became hugely popular and made Andy the first male pop star in almost a decade to produce two back to back Top 10 hits on the Adult Pop Radio. These two singles also attained platinum and gold statuses respectively, and were downloaded more than 1.5 million times combined.
The album sales also earned Andy the number one spot on the Billboard New Artist Chart. His success graph rose even further and he got to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Good Morning America and twice on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Andy also performed with Train, Colbie Caillat and Taylor Swift in live concerts.
Even before the release of his debut album, Andy Grammer was known for the video release of his song Keep Your Head Up, which featured Rainn Wilson, in 2010. It became the iTunes Video of the Week. The same song was also performed by Andy on The Rachael Ray Show, and it rose to number ninety-four on the Billboard Hot 100. Andy also opened for the Plain White T's in 2011 and to a great extent overshadowed the principle act in creating energy among the crowd. The same year Billboard magazine called him as the 'Artist to Watch'. One month prior to the release of his debut album, The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles featured Andy for its first installment of 'homegrown local artist series.' Soon after “Andy Grammer” came out, Andy announced his first headlining tour for 2012.
In the short span of time since his official debut, Andy has garnered legions of fans and international recognition. He has already sold more than 100,000 albums, has bagged two BMI Awards and has also appeared on the cover of Pollstar magazine.
His music shows influences from John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Jason Marz in terms of guitar routines, and The Fray, OneRepublic and Coldplay in terms of piano ballads. His lyrics seem to draw inspiration from Lauryn Hill, Kanye West and Jay-Z. Andy Grammar's music and lyrics however remain original and full of energy.
Andy's more recent works include his new EP, Crazy Beautiful. Released in 2013, the album's title song and I Choose You became instant hits. In March this year, Andy also released the lead single, Back Home, to his upcoming sophomore album. The album is titled “Magazines or Novels” and is expected to come out in August 2014. In his forthcoming performance, Andy Grammer might just reveal some new material from this album as well. Be there to find out. Get your Andy tickets and prepare for a fun filled event.
