Alexisonfire is a five member band being composed and formed in Ontario, Canada in the year 2001. The band consists of George Pettit (vocals), Dallas Green (guitar/vocals), Wade MacNeil (guitar/vocals), Chris Steele (bass), and Jordan Hastings (drums/percussion).
The band was formed in a strange way by the splitting of three bands. All of band members were working for different groups and they united to form a group having a music being defined as the the sound of two Catholic high-school girls in mid-knife-fight. The description is a very well fitted one for the band as there is so much diversity in the music and it produces a soft melody based music being sung by Mac Neil and at the same time the group member Petite sings in a punk rock style. The two extremely opposite domains of music being explored and experimented by the band was the highlight of their music album and it really impressed the critics as well as the audience and helped them in winning the gold certification.
The band has released two albums at later providing adding to their success and popularity. It is interesting to note that these albums have also got platinum certificates in Canada.
At the start as they declared their band's name, a controversy had arisen due to the name Alexisonfire'. It was the name of the world famous stripper and she threatened to sue them for it. But later they discovered that the site was not officially registered and it caused a sense of relief for the members. Their first EP got a great applause and many recording labels wanted to have a contract with them but they refused to do so as they thought it would be better to remain independent and create self organized form of music.
Their second album Watch Out got even more critical acclaim and it was ranked as the number 06 on the Neilson Sound Scan 200 list. They had toured for almost eighteen months after the release and managed to have music as a complement to their first album. They got a very good reception and their fine tunes helped them in their road to success.
They had released their third studio album, Crisis', in 2006.it is credited by All Music Guide their best music to date.
