Ace Frehley Band
Best known as an original member and lead guitarist for the rock band Kiss, American guitarist Paul Daniel Ace Frehley was born and raised in The Bronx. Daniel Frehley took on the persona of Space Ace when the band adopted costumes and theatrics in 1982.

After leaving the band, he embarked on a moderately successful solo career. Frehley rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour and lasted until 2002. He has since resumed his solo career.

The Frehleys were a musical family, so Ace was always surrounded by music. When he received an electric guitar as a Christmas present in 1964, Ace immersed himself in learning the instrument.

He listed Jimi Hendrix, Albert Lee, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and the Who as his main influences.

As a youth, he was in a New York street gang called The Duckies. When his band started earning a series of paying gigs, Frehley dropped out of high school. Ace spent the early 1970s in a series of local bands.

In late 1972, he auditioned for the trio of Paul Stanley (rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (bass guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) and was chosen to join Kiss.

Shortly after joining it, he was named as the groups lead guitarist. Kiss would paint their faces for live performances, while Frehley started painting silver stars on his eyes.

Having decided to adopt stage personas, Frehley quickly became Space Ace, meaning an alien visitor from the planet of Jendell. Kiss released their self-titled debut album, Kiss, in February 1974.

Frehley wrote or co-wrote several of the bands songs over the next few years. Not before the release of Shock Me in 1977 did he record his vocals on a song.

Frehley quit the band Kiss and was replaced by Vinnie Vincent for the start of the Creatures of the Night tour in December 1982. Although he was no longer a legal member of Kiss as of March 1983, Ace retained a one-quarter share in the Kiss partnership until 1985.

He did not actively begin his solo career until he was out of the partnership. Ace received one-quarter of the profits for both Lick It Up and Animalize although he had no involvement on either record.

In 1984, Ace Frehley started his post-Kiss solo career by assembling a band that enlisted drummer Anton Fig, bassist John Regan and guitarist Richie Scarlett.

Frehley named the band Ace Frehley and recorded a series of demos throughout 1984 and 1985. The group signed to Megaforce Records who issued their first album, Frehley's Comet, on July 7, 1987.

A mixture of hard rock and pop metal, Frehley's Comet was a successful return to the music scene for Frehley. It boasted a hit single Rock Soldiers, and peaked at number 43. Despite the positive reviews and healthy album sales of Frehley's Comet, Frehley couldnt get off to much commercial momentum.

Two 1988 Ace Frehley's albums: the live EP Live-1 and second studio album Second Sighting peaked at #84 and #81, respectively.

Although he has not come up with his own album as yet but his powerful music with thundering rhythms and howling guitars make the audiences fall in love with his music all over again!
