Boys II Men are based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States and were founded in the year 1988. The members got together in Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts and decided to form a band, which they named Boys II Men. The group is made up of Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Nathan Morris. The first album of the group was issued in the year 1991 and was titled Cooleyhighharmony. The producer of the record was Michaeil Bivins. The album contained a classic soul sound and new jack drum heavy swing style. The sound came to be known as “hip hop doo wop.”
Boys II Men managed to gain international fame during the 1990s, and saw numerous of their songs on the pop charts. Their very first track to top the charts was titled End of the Road, which was released in the year 1992 and gained the top spot on the charts all over the world, going on to become a phenomenal success. It broke Elvis Presley's record for longevity and stayed on the top spot on the Billboard Hot Hundred for thirteen weeks. Shortly afterward, the band broke even their own record with hits such as One Sweet Day and I'll Make Love You You. The former made the record for the longest staying single at the number one spot, remaining at the top of the Billboard Hot Hundred for a staggering sixteen weeks.
Another one of the phenomenal successes of Boys II Men include the song, On Bended Knee, which also gained the number one spot and turned the band into the third musician to replace their own selves at the top spot on the Billboard Hot Hundred. The other two were The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Due to this, Boys II Men are one of the only few musicians who have remained at the top place fifty times cumulatively. Because of these achievements and many more, the band was included in the list of the most successful bands of the 1990s by Billboard Magazine.
