The beautiful district municipality of West Vancouver is located in Canada. In terms of the total land area, the country of Canada is the second largest country in the world! The country has a long history and was originally inhabited by Aboriginal people. In 1867, the country was founded as a federal dominion or a union consisting of four provinces. The total land area of West Vancouver is 87.4 km2. The district is situated at an elevation of 178 meter above sea level. The population of the district as per the estimates of 2006 were 42,131 and it is ranked 108th amongst other districts of Canada in terms of population. It has a high concentration of people of age 65 or more who form almost 22 % of the total population. Majority of the people do not follow any religion or are non religious, they make up about 29.29 % of the total population. Anglican Christians make 17.5 % of the total population and with that the biggest minority as well. Almost 70 % of the total population had English as their mother tongue, whereas a tiny minority of 1.2 % of the population also speaks French. The climate of West Vancouver is typical that of any of the West Costal areas of Canada. On 15th March, 1912 - The District of West Vancouver was incorporated when it separated from North Vancouver District. The area was first located in 1791 when Don Jose Narveez flew over the English Bay area to explore the Santa Saturnia region. A year later in 1792, Captain George Vancouver entered the area where he was greeted by the First Nations in the village of Holmulchesun. Then almost half a century later, in 1858 the British proclaimed the BC Mainland territory and the West Vancouver area was recommended for the Transcontinental Railway. By 1972, James Blake had become the first non native person to own land in the West Vancouver area. Today, much of the existing buildings which stand in West Vancouver were build during the 1980s and 70s. It is one Canada's leading districts where people have vast properties and extensive houses and a dynamic culture.
