The small community of Villanova is located in Pennsylvania, US. The State of Pennsylvania is also nicknamed as the Keystone State since 1802 due to its ability to produce the key industrial goods of North as well as that of the South, like tobacco, cotton etc. It was one of the original Thirteen Colonies which formed the United States. It holds the honor of being the place where several important documents were signed, which also includes the Declaration of Independence. It is also nicknamed as the Quaker State. The residents of the state are consequently called the Quakers. Philadelphia is its most populous city. It has 51 miles of coastline along the Lake Erie and 57 miles of shoreline along the Delaware Estuary. Located in the South Eastern corner of Pennsylvania is the small community of Villanova which famous due to its Villanova University. The monumental university of Villanova happens to be more famous than the community itself. In fact, it is the community which it gets its name from the university.

The community was home to some 9,189 people as per the census of 2000. 92.47 % of this population consists of Whites. Asians make up the biggest minority with 3.4 %. Just like anywhere else in Pennsylvania, it is always almost too cold. Summers are short and mildly warm with an average temperature of 61.7 ?F in July. Route 100 and SEPTA R5 are the regional trains and your best option to reach the city. Since the community of Villanova was formed as a result of the Villanova University, their histories intertwine. 200 acre land was purchased by 2 Augustinian friars in 1841 with the intention of starting a school. It was initially called the 'Augustinian College of Villanova' when it opened it 1842. The school was expanded in 1890s. It finally started the School of Technology in 1905. With the launching of BS programs in 1926, the school became a college. Until 1918, Villanova offered education to male students only. By 1958, full permanent classes for women began. By 1968, it had become Villanova University and a coeducation institution. As the university enrolled multitudes of student, the area around it slowly was inhabited by coffee shops, cafes and in some cases the families of the faculty members. That is how Villanova community was formed.

Due to the fact that the community of Villanova was founded after the university, most of the events held here are related to academics, like debates, lectures, meetings with authors etc. The university sporting events are the also the sporting events for the community. Appleford/Parsons-Banks Arboretum presents an interesting tourist destination. It's a non-profit, 24 acre estate which was founded by William Penn's grant. Today, it has some of the most exotic trees and presents a beautiful site with its stone walls. Arboretum Villanova, of 222 acres is another arboretum of the city of Villanova. It surrounds the whole campus of Villanova University. It has a collection of over 1500 trees of various species. Apart from this St. Thomas of Villanova Church of the Villanova University is a famous monument. The community of Villanova offers everything a college town has to offer.
