Details of Victoria and the Ticket Luck value

Victoria
Victoria British Columbia Canada is one of the top tourist destinations in the world and was voted #1 in environmental ambiance by Con de Naste travel magazine. With more than 1 and a half hour ferry ride west of Vancouver BC, Victoria BC is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island.

Victoria is the capital of BC. Being a metropolitan area, it consists of the City of Victoria and 12 other municipalities. The core municipalities include Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and Esquimalt. Sidney by the Sea is 25 minutes north of Victoria, along with the municipalities of North Saanich and Central Saanich. To the West of Victoria BC is the City of Colwood, Langford, the Highlands and Metchosin or The West Shore locally.

Victoria remains the most British of cities in North America, but the lure of nature is now as much of a draw as the call of the Empire. The city's picturesque location provides the setting for an unhurried vacation or an active getaway. Visitors glimpse the Olympic Mountains in the background as bursts of color from public and private gardens dot the landscape and boats sparkle in the harbor. Some history lovers stroll to have a leisurely glimpse at the Royal British Columbia Museum.

Some of the top activities and attractions in Victoria BC British Columbia are Butchart Gardens, the Royal BC Victoria Museum and IMAX theatre, whale watching and the spectacular scenery. Within minutes of downtown Victoria British Columbia one can be alone in the wilderness or on the rugged coastline west of Victoria.

The Galloping Goose Trail is one of the world class tourist attractions. Whether one has the love for fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, golfing, site seeing, scuba diving or even sailing, every outdoor activity awaits for your pleasure on this special island, which is unique in its flavour and enchantment..

This exuberant, historic seaside resort-style destination features Canada's mildest climate with gardens blooming year-round. The wild beauty of the Pacific coast and the adventure of the great outdoors are within the city limits and ocean and mountain vistas follow you.

Frequent, direct air access, as well as ferries, floatplanes and helicopters give delegates a number of choices ranging from five star hotels to unique off site venues such as museums, castles, and the famous Butchart Gardens - most attractions are within walking distance of the scenic Inner Harbour.

Victoria remembers its colorful history with First Nations totem poles, heritage architecture and afternoon tea, and bustles with the energy of a university town, having the University of Victoria, Royal Roads University and University Canada West within its limits.

The real Victoria can be reflected through the shop windows that are full of British imports, Native art and the latest trends. Restaurants and cafes represent a life of fantasy and jubilation that serves the freshest cuisine. The harbor is alive when the lights twinkle and cast their magic from atop the landmark British Columbia Legislative Buildings.

It is almost impossible to visit Victoria and not explore the surrounding area and islands. Greater Victoria"s outlying suburbs are communities within themselves, with distinct atmospheres and interesting experiences. Between Vancouver Island and the mainland, British Columbia's Gulf Islands lie in the protected waters of the Georgia Strait.

Approximately 200 islands extend northeast of Victoria and provide the ideal destination for an extended vacation. Only the Aboriginal people made their home along the coasts of Vancouver Island until 1843, when they were joined by the Hudson"s Bay Company, who established a fort on what is now Victoria"s Bastion Square.

Today, Victoria is home to people of many different origins, cultural traditions, languages and religions and it welcomes them all. Cultural associations representing various ethnicities celebrate their heritage and introduce their customs to Victoria. This ensures the diverse communities an air of freedom and celebration typical to Victoria. More than a century later, like any other nation, Victorians are still dedicated to maintaining the city"s heritage and quality of life. The heart of historic Victoria radiates from the Inner Harbour.

Victoria celebrates its British heritage by the preservation of architecture and traditions. Sipping tea and tending elaborate gardens are popular traditions in Victoria. Tea-rooms around Victoria provide the opportunity to experience the tradition of afternoon tea. From formal hotels and lush gardens to quaint one-room establishments, visitors and residents alike can enjoy the practice of taking tea while enjoying some of the most picturesque views in the city.

Aptly named the "City of Gardens", Victoria is world-renowned for its many beautiful gardens. Victoria's legendary passion for gardening stems from its early days when British settlers tamed their bit of unruly Pacific wilderness by planting roses to remind them of home. This love of gardening quickly turned into a tradition that flourishes all over Victoria, and the mildness of the climate is resonant of the fact that there is always something blooming.

Spring can arrive as early as February and is mild. Summer is comfortably warm and dry with temperatures from 18° to 32°C (65° to 90°F). Victoria has a very low humidity ratio and almost constant offshore breezes, which keep summer days from becoming too hot and summer evenings cool.

The average monthly rainfall in summer is less than 2.5 cm (1"). Victoria often enjoys a warm, sunny September with fall arriving late in the month. Deciduous trees turn the city to gold, while lawns and golf courses are green and lush throughout the winter.

Every February, while most Canadians are still shoveling snow, Victorians are exhilarated in counting flowers, with the obvious focus on tourists" attraction. The first Victoria Flower Count was held in 1976.

The annual tradition that resulted encourages residents and visitors to report the number of blossoms in their gardens and throughout their neighborhoods. The final count is published nationwide and abroad. The grand total is celebrated as a farewell to winter and to welcome an early spring.

Besides counting the flowers, Victorians are die-heart fans of blossoming flowers and the bright spring season. They truly know how to celebrate it. The placement of flower baskets on lamp posts every June has signaled the start of summer in Victoria for more than 60 years. First introduced in 1937 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victoria's incorporation, they are now recognized as a trademark of the City of Victoria.

When Victoria's baskets were first introduced, the practice of hanging flower baskets in public areas was limited to a few European cities. They were selected based on their vigour, resistance to disease and insects, period of bloom and other required maintenance needs. Plants for the baskets are grown in the City of Victoria's Beacon Hill Nursery, located in the southeast corner of Beacon Hill Park.

An interesting fact: It does not snow here very often, but when it does....WOW! Victoria's Snowstorms of the Century flabbergasted the public in February 2, 1916 and December 28-29, 1996. Huge snowstorms, 80 years apart, clobbered Canada's "snow-free" city with more than 55 cm of snow.

The December storm dropped 80 cm of snow in 24 hours, 125 cm in five days with cleanup costs exceeding $200 million, thus creating great havoc and excitement for Victorians.

We hope that we will be successful through word of mouth instead of a massive banner ad. marketing budget.

Our tiny markup pays for the support, the cost of running the website and the toll free number that we provide. We hope to be modestly successful, without being greedy and want you to benefit from our effort. In turn, we hope that you will pass on the good word and provide us with referrals.
