      Utica
Utica a city that is located in Oneida County in the state of New York was incorporated in 1832. The city of Utica saw its first settlement back in 1773, which was back then known as Old Fort Schuyler.

Steadily with the passage of time, Utica took the shape of a Village and gradually expanded its borders in 1805 and 1817. Back then, main source of economic development for Utica was by providing water transport that is why the two famous canals Erie Canal that was opened in 1820 and Chenango Canal that was opened in 1836 played a vital role in the citys economic development.

During the 19th and 20th Utica was home to a major textile and tool and die industry. But by the late 20th century, textile industry along with the tool and die industry abandoned Utica and moved to the Southern Regions of America. That was a major set back to Uticas economy. Nonetheless, by the mid 20th century, Utica became the Center of Radio Manufacturing in the world and was home to the General Electric Company.

But like textile and tool & die industry General Electric Company moved out of Utica as well, totally depriving Utica of its economic Development. In those times Utica was growing in means of population but economic growth was nearly zero.

Due to which during 1980s and 1990s Utica started losing its citizens as well and apart from facing economic loss, Utica started facing Population loss as well. But the city leaders, industrialists and entrepreneurs didnt abandon Utica that easy, and begin their struggle for the betterment of the city.

Their major accomplishment came with the establishment of a Manufacturing Company that gave birth to 500 job vacancies. And soon city also became the area well known for its arts and entertainment and started attracting a major number of visitors.

One of major attraction of the Utica city is its Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute. The institute is a fine arts center that is further divided into three partitions. The two other partitions are basically arts learning centers that are known as School of Art and Performing Arts. It basically awards the two year associates degree to those students who are seeking to graduate from Pratt Institute.

Another notable attraction of the city is its Childrens Museum of History, Natural History, Science and Technology that was established in October, 1963 in the basement of Utica Public library as a Junior Museum, but with the passage of time Museum went through several expansions and now being the largest Childrens Museum nationwide. The Museum provides with a great learning place for kids, as it provides learning on local history, arts, space science and environmental science.
