Tinley Park
Primarily situated in Cook County, IL, United States with a small but significant portion in Will Country, the village named as Tinley Park is fastest growing area in outskirts of Chicago. 2007 census say that there are 58,222 inhabitants permanently residing in the village.
History
Area of Tinley Park was first settled along with the foundation of Chicago in around 1830. First permanent group of residents were few Germans who flew in and rested at a place then called "Bremen" that is now called Tinley Park. Latter on, in the late 19th century when railroad were being networked throughout the nation, Bremen became on the route of Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad line.
The influence of the railroad on Bremen was so huge that soon in 1890, its name was changed to Tinley Park in honor of the village's first railroad station agent, Samuel Tinley, Sr. Even the village's official incorporation took place at the train depot on June 27th, 1892. Emergence of railroad resulted into development, heavy industry and commerce coming into the village.
After its centennial, Tinley Park from the late 20th century to the present has been focused on renovation of its downtown historic district. The historic district is made up of the village's original 1892 boundaries. In this district, landowners are encouraged to maintain the historic edifices.
Real Estate
Tinley Park enjoys various variations when it comes to real estate market; offering affordability, luxury and comfort. Single-family homes normally range in price from the low-$200,000s to more than $1.5 million for large estate properties on wooded lots. Air transportation is available through several nearby airports. Midway International Airport is approximately 30 minutes north, O"Hare International Airport sits around 45 minutes northwest and the Gary/Chicago International Airport is located at 30 minutes east of Tinley Park.
Two Metra train stations, the recently renovated Oak Park Avenue Station and the 80th Avenue Station, are also available to commuters traveling to and from downtown Chicago, to Joliet and to all stops in between.
Shopping and Dinning
The Village of Tinley Park offers its residents and visitors a wide array of shopping choices that cater to everyone"s need. Shopping stores range from locally owned shops and boutiques to large nationally-known malls.
Park Place, Brookside Marketplace, Tinley Park Plaza, Oak Park Avenue area and Brementowne, which features everything from clothing and jewelry shops to service-oriented businesses.
