Details of Strasbourg and the Ticket Luck value

Strasbourg
France is one of the few countries in the world that has the largest number of internationally acclaimed cities, one of them being Strasbourg. The city resides on the eastern side of France cornering the confluence of Bruche and Ill rivers.

The city is relatively close to Germany and is a major site seeing city for the French citizens as well as for the friendly neighboring tourists coming from different surrounding countries. The city itself is an industrial and cultural magnet for the locals and provides the financial prowess of the state.

Strasbourg is rightly called the industrial arm of France providing its people extensive array of local manufactured goods. The city gives the country the industrial and manufacturing strength required to compete with the international market and fuels hundred other economies of scale.

The city is primarily noted for the production of refined petroleum, machinery, metal goods, printed material, electronic and electric equipment and a plethora of other spare parts used in the industry. Strasbourg is acclaimed for the production of pâte de foie gras. One of the other reasons that make Strasbourg such a strong financial force is the port that it maintains on the river Rhine. The port allows for the import and export of goods around the world.

The city itself is divided into different parts by the Ill River. The canals associated with the river surround the oval-shaped central district which is the oldest section of the city and known and revered as the architectural beauty of the city. The famous Cathedral of Notre Dame of Strasbourg is situated in the southeastern part of the old quarter.

The Cathedral is also known as the Strasbourg Cathedral and is located in the southeastern part of the old quarter of the city. The cathedral is built of red sandstone, principally in Gothic style, with some Romanesque features. The beauty of the Cathedral lies in its 142-meter spire which is also one of the tallest spires in entire Europe. The construction of the magnificent cathedral began in 1015.

The cathedral has been revamped by different rules and governments through out the centuries. Only the crypt and parts of the choir still exist from the original church. The choir, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, is Romanesque and the apse is transitional in style. The nave, reconstructed between 1250 and 1275, is pure French Gothic.

Millions of devote Christians in the city alone are proud of the heritage and significance of the church in their lives and to Christianity. Millions of astute Christians have prayed and married in this astonishing church for centuries. There reside in the city of Strasbourg residents who claim that they are the 9th generation who are still praying in the church.

The cathedral was later on designed by Johann Hultz of Cologne, Germany and completed the revamping in 1439. The cathedral also draws its beauty and impact from the magnificent rose window that is approximately 50 feet in diameter. The window was designed by Erwin von Steinbach. This and the other windows have screens of double tracery.

On the Romanesque south portal are fine sculptures. The interior is notable for its richly sculptured pulpit, dating from 1486, and for its stained glass. The entire hallways and galleries speak volume of the intensity, divinity and superior carvings of the people who have recreated the church into a masterpiece.

The city also hosts the European parliament and has given the city and the people the international claim and respect. Hundreds of delegates visit the city and decide on political scenes within the region. Millions of visitors visit this particular side of France to enjoy the port front and the lavish architectural beauty encompassing the region.

The city also is known for its educational excellence in the region. University of Strasbourg Strasbourg I, II, III was 1538 and reorganized 1970. The university is fully supported by the government and has become an advanced institution of higher learning for the entire nation.

One of the advantages in living in this part of France is the lavish green parks and horticultural places within the city. There are numerous parks that have become prominent for their features and beauty. Parc de l'Orangerie is one of the most enjoyed parks in the vicinity. The park was laid out as a French garden by Andre le Nôtre and remodeled as an English garden on behalf of Josephine de Beauharnais.

The park is filled with French gardens, a neo-classical castle and a small zoo. Another spectuacular garden is the the Parc de la Citadelle which was built around impressive remains of the 17th-century fortress erected close to the Rhine by Vauban. The Parc pde Pourtalès is another spectacular garden that hosts the famous Schiller International University.

The Parc des Contades garden is the oldest park of the city and was completely remodeled after World War II. All these gardens give this city the aroma and feel of romance and culture that is not found in many of the cities of France.
