Details of Saint Leonard and the Ticket Luck value

Saint Leonard
Saint Leonard was a city on the Island of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Latter on, in 2002 it was merged into the city of Montreal to become an area of mega-city with total population of 69,604 inhabitants (as per 2001 census).

Saint Leonard, which was originally called St. Leonard de Port Maurice is situated at the east boundaries of the Island of Montreal, where French was the primary language.

But, lately, after certain demographics conversions the city consisted of Italian immigrants, where various services are offered in Italian in addition to English and French.

History
Back in 1886, when Saint Leonard was actually founded, the city was predominated by rural life with a uniform and stable population, which stood firm at only couple of hundreds inhabitants and did not increase for a long time. Then the population was mainly the Catholic French Canadians, who used to earn their livelihood through their farm work. City remained nothing more than just farm lands, a main street (rue Jarry) and a church for a long.

Latter on, in mid of twentieth century, Saint-Leonard turned into a busy place where housing construction geared up and population kept on increasing drastically (from 925 in 1956 to 52,040 in 1971).

This rapid development was only due to a group of Montrealers from the Cooperative d"habitation de Montreal, who got land in Saint-Leonard - the Renaud plot, which is now the area around rue Aime-Renaud, rue des Artisans and rue Alphonse-Desjardins and la Place des Fondateurs - to build a large cooperative housing complex. The project made 655 workers with average incomes to live there and raise their families in the suburbs.

The housing boom was coupled with two other major events that include the arrival of a large number of new Canadians of Italian origin, who changed the social dynamics and enriched the community socially and culturally and the development of an urban plan, which shaped the territory of Saint-Leonard and gave it the features for which it is known today.

After the housing boom Saint-Leonard was matured into a well developed and organized city. Saint-Leonard accomplished its urban plan and completed development of its territory, improved services to the public, adopted social response policies to meet the needs of an aging population and new social realities.

Saint-Leonard"s social and human fabric also became more diverse during this period. New Canadians from many countries joined French Canadians and citizens of Italian origin. Today, Saint-Leonard is an open, multicultural community and a borough where different cultural communities live together in harmony.

Culture and Community
Saint Leonard has underground caves, located at Pie XII Park that happens to be a popular tourist attraction. The "Leonardo Da Vinci" Centre, in the city offers services in French, English and Italian. This cultural building contains theaters, gyms, bocce playing areas, and a cafe. Due to the reason that a huge Italian Canadian community resides in the town, the area is also nicknamed as Cittą Italiana.

Sports
Skaters can have fun while skating safely in any of two skate parks in the city of Saint Leonard. Admission for every one is free, and they are open to the public May through October. Saint Leonard inhabitants can enjoy 10 KM long bike paths in the city that connect almost every part of city structures including parks and pools.

The city of Saint Leonard mainly has two hockey arenas. Arena Martin Brodeur, located on 5300 boulevard Robert, and Arena Hebert, located on 7755 Rue Colbert. These arenas host many local hockey games, and they offer food services, sports stores, showers, locker rooms, and public free-skating. Residents are allowed with many outdoor hockey rinks in the winter.

There are seven rinks set up before every winter, which are iced when the temperature is appropriate. Soccer is termed as most popular sporting art amongst the youth in Saint Leonard. Almost every single public park in Saint Leonard has a soccer field open to the public. Theses fields are used for soccer games in the summer, but anyone is welcome to play when the fields are free.

The city of Saint Leonard is a fun place where everyone, young, old, gents, ladies can have countless activities. For the young there is basketball, sledding, tennis, playgrounds and swimming pools, both outdoors and indoors. The city also has a small football stadium, Stade Hebert. For the retired citizens, there are bocce courts located at almost every public park.
