Ridgefield keeps up the quality of its education system in the city. It has nine government-run and two private-owned schools. The high school is Ridgefield High School and its teams are called Tigers. The six public elementary schools are Veterans Park, Branchville, Farmingville, Scotland, Barlow Mountain, and Ridgebury.

There are two middle schools in the region named Scotts Ridge Middle School and East Ridge Middle School. There are also various preschools, of which Ridgefield Academy teaches preschool through eighth grade.

Attractions and Landmarks
Once you have found any of the Richfield hidden gems, you would surely like to come back. The town has so much to offer in its small setting than can any other town. Make your first stop the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. It is indeed a leading venue showcasing works of the worlds best contemporary artists. Its exhibitions have garnered the attention and respect from notable audiences. The museum also features special programs including concerts.

Founded on Ridgefields historic Main Street is one of the few modern art museums in the United States - The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. The museum features work by emerging artists and offer various education programs. It enjoys the curatorial independence of an alternative space while keeping up the art-handling standards of a national institution.

The city has rich entertainment scene offering ample opportunities to enjoy. Its entertainment scene is characterized mainly by Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, Ridgefield playhouse, Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance and Ridgefield Theater Barn.

The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra founded in 1965 with just 20 people and became fully professional by the end of the decade. Today the Orchestra has 75 musicians who give their top-notch performances. It also draws soloists of international reputation.

The Ridgefield Playhouse began featuring its performances in December 2000 and calls the Old Ridgefield High School Auditorium its home. The Playhouse features dozens of concerts and other performances, many by internationally known artists throughout the year.

So far, artists like Joan Baez, Paul Newman, Arlo Guthrie, Jose Feliciano, the Bacon Brothers, Blues Traveler, Peter Yarrow, Marcel Marceau, Barbara Cook, and Moscow Boys Choir have amused people in the Ridgefield Playhouse. You can either watch many first-run movies at the venue.

The only National park Service property in Connecticut is the Weir Farm National Historic Site, straddling the Ridgefield-Wilton border. The site preserves much of the farm of a renowned painter of the American Impressionism style - J. Alden Weir. The land was later used by his son-in-law, Mahonri Young. The site encompasses the Weir Farm Art Center and a gallery, and offer many special events, including shows by visiting artists in residence.

Also of interest is the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, founded in 1965 as the Ridgefield Studio of Classical Ballet by Patricia Schuster. In 2002 it became the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, and now is home to two pre-professional performance companies such as the Ridgefield Civic Ballet and the Contemporary Dance Ensemble. The conservatory features the Nutcracker each year at The Ridgefield Playhouse.

Treat yourself to the eclectic performances at the Ridgefield Theater Barn. The city of Ridgefield has a vibrant theatre community, so far spawned many contemporary ad-libbing theatres. Other popular Ridgefields theater companies include the Barn has been providing quality live theater productions to the city and the surrounding communities for 42 years.

This heated, air-conditioned theater provides a cozy, intimate setting with cabaret seating for most events. You can also bring your food and beverage of your choice to enjoy before the show and during intermission.
