      Redding is the largest city of the Sacramento Valley and is located on the Sacramento River. It is the county seat of Shasta County, California, USA.       Redding receives fairly wet winters. However, summers tend to be extremely hot, and dry every year. The city is served by the Redding Municipal Airport and is home to two major hospitals in the region.

      This stunning master-piece was designed by renowned Spanish architect-engineer-artist Santiago Calatrava. Sunbdial Bridge links the north and south campuses of the 300 acre Turtle Bay Exploration Park. The pylon holding up the bridge supports cables and also acts as a sundial.

      Nestled on the banks of Sacramento River is Turtle Bay Exploration Park. Do pause to explore a museum and gardens spreading over 2-acre area. You may either enjoy a variety of permanent and changing exhibitions reflecting art, history, forestry, horticulture and natural science. The Park is by far a worth-visit place to pause at and explore its enticing attractions.

      Since the Redding lies within the picturesque settings, it is a unique blend of California, Eugene and Oregon. People of any taste may find something for everyone.       The Cascade Theater is a shining example of Art Deco architecture of the period and was listed on the California Register of Historic Resources on November 5, 1999. It was also received Art Deco Society of California Preservation Award in 2000.

      Those who have literary aptitude may pause at Library Park, in downtown Redding to earn for their taste. The old Carnegie Library once stood on the same spot. The library was built in 1903 and was demolished after 50years to provide a space for a park that is now used for MarketFest.

      Used for over 5000 years is Siskiyou Trail which is significant for connecting California and Pacific Northwest. It is thought to be a milestone for defining the political, cultural and natural history of American West. The trail also features a museum called The Museum of Siskiyou Trail.

      The trail was initially served as a network of Native American footpaths, and later as the route of Hudsons Bay trappers, mule train packers, stagecoach drivers, the Central Pacific Railroad, and finally todays Interstate 5.
