Krefeld is a city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and boasts almost everything that can be expected from the largest federal state of Germany. A quick look at the history of the City will take you back to the Roman Times when Krefeld appeared on map as Krinvelde in 1105. In 1255, founded in the east of Krefeld was a town named Uerdingen. As time went on, both regions were pushed into the Thirty Years' War. However, they managed to spare the horrors of the war and thus were passed to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815. The year 1929 saw Krefeld and Uerdingen merging together to form Krefeld-Uerdingen. After a decade or so in 1940, Krefeld-Uerdingen became Krefeld. At the end of World War II, Krefeld was incorporated into the new state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since then, the community of Krefeld never looked back; it rather keeps driving forward to become economically strong region. Having experienced ups and downs of the times, the City is now willing to embrace new changes. Plan out a trip to Krefeld in your upcoming holidays; and experience its thriving community with friendly feel, enjoy indigenous arts & culture and explore what else it has in store for you!
