Karlsruhe is one of the most beautiful and historic cities of southwest Germany. It is located near the French and German border and is home to approximately 300,000 citizens. In fact, the oldest part of town still resides on the south part of the Palace vicinity and is still being able to keep its unique grace and history. Corel city is the birthplace of Karl Benz (1844-1929), inventor of the automobile and founder of Benz & Co., as well as Karl Drais who invented the precursor of the bicycle and other transportation devices. The legendary singer Andi Deris who has revolutionized music in Germany also was born in this town. The famous and notable poet Johann Peter Hebel lived most of his life in this city. And who can forget Gustav Landauer who is one of the leading theorists of anarchism in Germany. This city inspired some of the most in greatest leaders, actress, musicians and politicians of its time and is extremely proud of them to be associated with this city. Karlsruhe city has a plethora of entertainment and art avenues to provide to the community and to the visitors that come throughout the year to visit it. The Durlacher Turmberg is one of the most famous local attractions of the city and brings forth the history of 13th century back into perspective. Another exciting attraction is the Karlsruhe Zoo which has been built on the recreational site of Stadtgarten.
Yet many other visitors are simply fascinated by the beauty and natural habitat of the two largest botanical Gardens of Karlsruhe. The municipal Botanischer Garten Karlsruhe which forms part of the schloss complex, and the Botanischer Garten der Universit?t Karlsruhe which is maintained by the university are loved by the community for its unique diversity of plantation. Many of the Catholics enjoy visiting Kleine Kirche (Little Church) which was built in the late 17th century. The churches are symbolic representation of the Christianity links of the city. The St. Stephan parish church is another phenomenal architectural masterpiece that was built in 1808.
