Tickets for Issaquah
Nestled amidst three mountain ranges and a lake, the city of Issaquah in Washington D.C., United States of America was ranked 2nd in the list of the quickest growing suburban city of the state. Surrounded by the Issaquah Alps- Squak Mountains, Tiger Mountains and the Cougar Mountains and Lake Sammamish, the city despite its distinguishing location is home to the tycoons of the business world, namely Boeing Company, Costco and Microsoft. Issaquah was initially developed to support the mining industry that sprang up around it in the fourth month of the year 1892. However with the depletion of the natural resources, lumber became an attractive alternative and the same companies began exporting lumber to the nearby cities. The city remained pretty serene in the period of the Great Depression but business picked up after that. Today the Boeing Company, Microsoft and Costco provide a large majority of the jobs available at the city. These companies are also responsible for community and cultural development of the locales as well as improving the general standard of living. Lake Sammamish has stood witness to the Boeing Company's first ever wooden seaplane taking flight. Other notable contributors include GoldSim Technology Group, Siemens Medical Solutions Ultrasound Group, Darigold, Boehm's Candies, Overtime Technologies and Costco Wholesales.
The name itself has an interesting history. It stuck by way of pronunciation. The word itself means the sound of birds. The place was initially christened Squak Valley because of the vast abundance of wetland birds inhabiting this area by the first settlers. The next set of settlers was told the name was Issaquah (it's Squak) by their predecessors. And the name has stuck ever since. Going to the city is not a problem. The city is accessed by Interstate 90 and 900 which connect the city to Seattle and Renton. However, transportation within the city is an area of concern. The city is provided bus service by Sound Transit and King County Metro but this is limited. Front Street suffers from a severe congestion problem thus making intercity mobility somewhat difficult. For all the Shopping fanatics out there: King County Metro does provide access to all the major shopping areas as of August 1995 and hence souvenir shopping or a general shopping spree plans are not bound to be messed up.
If it's physical activity you are looking for, the city is the perfect choice. With its prime location amidst the Issaquah Alps and Lake Sammamish, every muscle will be tossed, turned and cramped. The Alps are the choice for hitchhiking and there are numerous trails made for this purpose. The lake is the other alternative. A day at the oars is equivalent to a day in the gym with the dumbbells. So those who do not like going to the gym for a work out this is the place to be. You could also opt for a quite picnic in the mountains or at the lakeside. Whichever it is, it is guaranteed to be enjoyable. For those who like the earth being pulled away from beneath their feet, well the city is all set to oblige. The Tiger Mountains are an apt location for paragliding and hang gliding. However, a thing to bear in mind is the weather report for the day. With the weather permitting, you can feel as light as a bird.
You are sure to have missed everything if you missed a trip to the Cougar Mountain Zoo. The Cougar Mountain Zoo is home to many endangered species of the world including cougars, lemurs, cranes, reindeer, macaws, wallabies, ratites, Bengal Tigers and camelids. With convenient timings 5 days a week (Wednesday through Sunday, am to 5 pm.), the Cougar Mountain Zoo is a must see. It is heaven for the animal lovers.
