Hawthorne is a city situated in the Los Angeles County, in southwestern California, USA. It was initially inhabited by Indians belonging to the Shoshonian linguistic group, who had occupied the South Bay, Los Angeles area during the 1500s. Later in the early 1900s, Hawthorne was brought into being by Benjamin I. Harding and Harry Dana Lombard, with the purpose of building an eighty-acre town site on the waving barley fields.
