The town of Fletcher is located in the County of Henderson in North Carolina. Since it is only 13 Miles apart from Asheville, it also houses Asheville Regional Airport. The town stretches across 6.1 sq. miles of land that comprises of both hilly and plain terrains. The town of Fletcher was the resultant factor of an activist movement that was led by the politician of the local descent named Sara Waechter. After the incorporation of town in 1989, she also became the first mayor of the town.

Ever since the town got incorporated, the population of the town has been growing rapidly, and the census studies of 2000 revealed that the total population of the town happened to be 4,185 people, which was previously accounted to be 2,787 people as of the US Census of 1990. As of the 2000 Census, the population of the town is further divided into 1,248 families. As of the racial division, 93.60% population comprises of Caucasians, while 3.30% population consists of African Americans and 1.3% consists of Asians. The median income for the family residing in Fletcher happened to be $51,688 as of the 2000 Census, while the per capita income of the town was $20,607.

The town of Fletched is highly accessible thanks to some of the major highways that lead to the town, including US Highway 25, Interstate 26 and State Route 280. Apart from that town also houses Asheville Regional Airport and a Bus Line. The town houses two public elementary schools namely, Fletcher Elementary School and Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School, along with Apple Valley Middle School, Rugby Middle School, and North High School and West High School. As of 2000 Census out of the total population almost 90% people are either high school graduates or college graduates.
