Incorporated in 1845, Easton is basically a rural community that can be found along side Redding, Monroe, Trumbull, Fairfield, Weston and Newtown. The towns history dates back to 1757 when some men from Fairfield settled here that leads to an establishment of a congregation in 1762. Named as North Fairfield Society, it gradually evolved into a town. Weston was incorporated from this community in 1787 and sixty-two years later, Easton was established from the Weston area.

Today, Easton shines as Connecticuts most appealing rural community that is also closer to New York metropolitan area. Half of its land is owned by the Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut, the main supplier of water in the area. The citizens keep the family agricultural tradition alive while the tourists mainly explore its historic sites, parks and fields. Although small in population (less than 10,000), the town is among the most prosperous communities on the eastern seaboard.

Perhaps the most interesting and widely visited attractions of Easton are the historic buildings and landmarks. The historic district of Aspetuck tops this list. It is located on the banks of the Aspetuck River. This is a place where famous author, Helen Keller spent later years of her life and its 18th-century houses made it listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Aspetuck River is a natures delight as you can check splendid water views in this serene area.

Aspetuck is not the only National Historic Landmark. Bradley-Hubbell House, a Colonial house with federal-style ornaments, is also a historic place. Ida Tarbell House, Baptist Church, Jesse Lee Church, Union Cemetery and Gilbert Town Cemetery are also listed as National Historic Places; the last one being the oldest cemetery in Easton. If you are among those who like explore every historic location of a town you visit, head towards Congregational Church and Old Academy, Post Office and Greiser's, Adams School House, remains of the first dam in Easton and Bradley-Hubbell House. The Bradley-Hubbe is located where the British marched to Danbury during the American Revolution.

Easton is among the most beautiful and gifted neighborhoods of the region and you can experience natures best delights in its cool and calm setting. Toth Park offers fishing, picnicking, barbecue and other attraction. The Helen Keller Park is good for sports freak as this contains playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts and fields for soccer and softball. Adjacent to this is Veteran's Field that also provides indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
