Cuyahoga Falls city is located in Ohio, USA, near Akron and Cleveland, and is the second largest city in the Summit County, which is surrounded by Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the northwest and Akron to the south. The citys name, Cuyahoga Falls, has been derived from the Cuyahoga River, along with the succession of falls that run through the citys heart.

Cuyahoga Falls was brought into being by William Wetmore in 1812. William Wetmore and Joshua Stow were among the early settlers of the city. The town was initially called Manchester, but the Post Office requested to change the name of the town as there were already more than a few towns with the name Manchester in the US state Ohio, the town was thus renamed Cuyahoga Falls.

Being first laid-out as a village by Judge Richardson in 1826, Cuyahoga Falls was then incorporated as a town in 1836, and remained as a township until 1868, when Cuyahoga Falls and Northampton Township became the first two communities in the history of the State of Ohio to successfully merge by voter approval.
