Details of Cheyenne and the Ticket Luck value
Cheyenne
Cheyenne is the capital and the largest city of the U.S. state of Wyoming. It is also the county seat of Laramie County. The city stared with a low population which comprised 600 construction workers, entrepreneurs and camp followers of dubious character and rowdy habit, whereas now, it has almost 59,000 residents of diversity.
Cheyenne is a city that welcomes all, and has a lot to offer to both its residents, known as Cheyennites, and visitors. With landmarks such as Wyoming State Capitol and historic places such as Union Pacific Depot, Cheyenne is a great place to explore!
The history of Cheyenne dates back to 1867, when the Union Pacific Railroad came through on its way to the west coast. General Grenville Dodge first surveyed the town site and named it for an Indian tribe that roamed the area, called Shey an nah, belonging to the tribe of Alogonquian.
The settlement came fast in the area thus, the nickname Magic City of the Plains was adopted by the city. The first charter for the government of the City of Cheyenne was established on August 8, 1867. Then on August 10, 1867, H. M. Hook was elected mayor. At the time, Cheyenne was situated in the Dakota Territory and had a population of approximately 600 people.
A permanent city charter was granted by the Dakota Territory legislature the following December. The City of Cheyenne formally adopted the commissioner form of government on January 5, 1914, and was proclaimed to be a City of the First Class organized under the provisions of the State of Wyoming with all the powers and obligations thereto on July 9, 1945.
As a result of a special election, held on June 22, 1971, to determine if the commissioner form of government should be replaced with the mayor-council form, a mayor and nine councilmen were elected to take office on January 3, 1972, under the new form of government. And presently, the mayor is elected At-Large every four years.
Three council members are elected from each of three wards on a staggered basis. Cheyenne features a multitude of cultural and recreational opportunities. There are countless landmarks, historical sites, districts, departments and attractions situated in the city of Cheyenne.
