In 2008, the Marketplace had been named as one of America"s GREAT PUBLIC SPACES, by the American Planning Association.

The City of Burlington features the largest public library in the whole state of Vermont, known as the Carnegie Building of the Fletcher Free Library, and is also marked on the National Register of Historic Places.

As the city is located along the shore of Lake Champlain, the waterfront along its shore comprises a beautiful area featuring bench swings, along paths, suitable for biking or walking. The greatest music legends, known as Phish, the musical band, formed at The University of Vermont.

This shows that the city has supported, launched yet bore many national musical acts. The city does not lag behind in the sports scene as well, as it is home to one of America"s Class A minor league baseball team, called the Vermont Lake Monsters.
