Later, Dr. Burbank also became the owner of the Burbank Theatre, which was nationally acclaimed and showcased major artists of the time, such as Fay Bainter and Marjorie Rambeau. However, the theater was transformed into a parody house once it got deteriorated.
The City of Burbank grew gradually withstanding the depression and drought that had hit the Los Angeles region in the 1980s. By 1920s, the Burbank community had developed its own bank, newspaper, high school and a blooming business district, which featured a hardware store, livery stable, dry goods store, general store, and bicycle repair shop.
