Branson is a city in Stone and Taney counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. What is now a popular destination for vacationers from Missouri and the surrounding states, Branson, was formally incorporated in 1912.
It was named for Rueben Branson, postmaster and operator of a general store in the area in the 1880s. The Presley family became the first to move their show to Highway 76 in 1967, followed a year later by the Baldknobbers.
In 1983 Branson began its transformation into a major tourist attraction when the 7,500 seat Swiss Villa Amphitheatre opened in Lampe, Missouri. The theatre, which was later renamed the Black Oak Mountain Amphitheatre before ultimately closing in the early 2000s, proved there was a market for large music gatherings.
Ironically, it started out as a venue for rock bands Def Leppard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, REO Speedwagon, Steppenwolf, and Ozzy Osbourne. The first famous country music star to have his own venue in Branson was Roy Clark who opened the Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre the same year.
In 2007, ground was broken for the $155 million Branson Airport on land formerly belonging to Tennessee Erine Ford. Scheduled to open in May 2009, it is claimed that it will be the largest privately-owned commercial airport in the United States. This construction is said to be the largest earth moving project in Missouri history as it involves flattening several Ozark Mountains.
With more than forty years and over 100 live shows, Branson has more theaters with live entertainment than anywhere in the United States. Branson also boasts over 350 restaurants from fast food to elegant gourmet dining.
The fun and entertainment in Branson is all year round, as January through March is filled with Hot Winter Fun shows and activities and there is something for everyone during Ozark Mountain Spring.
In additional to these new events Branson"s 1st Annual Great American Pie Show will be held at the Branson Convention Center April 24-25.
Summertime offers families a wonderful time to get away together for lots of fun! The Fall Festivals and crafts fairs set the mood along with the changing fall foliage for a breathtaking time in Branson.
Adding to its charm, Branson show's its pride in our veterans every day with special tributes during our shows and by hosting the largest Veteran's Homecoming celebration in the country in November during the week before Veteran's Day.
The largest theme park, Silver Dollar City, is an all time favorite! So, when you plan your visit to this superb city, make sure to visit all its famous venues, especially this theme park, and don"t forget to dine out at their lavish and tastiest cuisines and restaurants!

If you are lucky enough to find this site, you would have saved a tidy sum for yourself. We hope that we will be successful through word of mouth instead of a massive banner ad. marketing budget.

pass on the good word and provide us with referrals.
