The Town of Avon is a Home Rule Municipality that is the most populous town in Eagle County, Colorado, United States. The population was 5,561 at the 2000 census. Avon serves as a gateway to the Beaver Creek Resort which lies about two miles south of the town.
The town is also the home to the physical headquarters of Vail Resorts, although the company"s mailing address is Vail, Colorado. The town is also the site of an independent ski manufacturing company - Liberty Skis.

Visitors may have observed walking around Avon the many beautiful bronze sculptures on display. The Town of Avon and the Avon Art Council together place a high value on public art and are proud of their rich heritage. In 1998, Avon started off its public art exhibition with the unveiling of "Checkmate" by cowboy artist Herb Mignery at the Town"s 10th Anniversary Celebration.

The "Heart of the Valley" is a site of Avon Recreation Centre which is a spacious multi-use facility with more than 40,000 sq. ft. of fun and excitement. Its mission is to bring the community together through comprehensive recreation services and programs. Within its doors lies a wide array of activities exceeding you and your family"s fitness and leisure needs.
Whether you want to join one of its many award-winning yoga classes, swim laps in its five-lane lap pool, the Avon Recreation Center and its staff can surely accommodate your needs. The Center is also a good place to simply relax or daydream while floating along the lazy river.
Stroll along Nottingham Lake and you will get whisked away by its enchanting feel and scenic beauty. The city of Avon"s Nottingham Lake is the focal point of many summer and winter attractions and activities in the parks. The lake is carefully maintained by the Town of Avon and is served as backup water which is supplied to the area. The town has launched various programs crating awareness among masses to keep the lake clean.
If you"re hanging around the lake for the first time, we would recommend you to be aware of the possible dangers there. Do not swim, wade or play in Nottingham Lake. However, fishing is allowed in the summer months with the proper Colorado Fishing License. You can also enjoy ice skating and ice fishing in the winter months.
Parks & Recreation
The Parks and Gardens in the town truly depict the aesthetics and taste of the people living in Avon. Both city and private sector have notable contributions in earning Avon a prominent status among cities and towns of the entire County. It is by far a great place to spend a day.
You may either give a break to your hectic routine by visiting Avon"s Whitewater Park. Whether you are a seasoned paddler or a curious sightseer, Avon"s Whitewater Park provides an exhilarating and fun freestyle kayaking experience.
The Park is located just blocks south of the town center, directly under "Bob the Bridge" and is 350 feet in length. Avon"s Whitewater Park offers ample spectator viewing terrace and large flat boulders along the river"s edge for seating.
In addition to these parks, there are many pocket parks located throughout the town as well. These pocket parks give a chance to Avon"s neighborhoods to enjoy, play, recreate, and gather. Among all the rage pocket parks are the Eaglebend pocket park and the Wildridge pocket park.
