Details of Akron and the Ticket Luck value
Akron
Situated in northeast Ohio, Akron lies between Cleveland (to the north) and Canton (to the south). It is approximately 60 miles west of the Pennsylvania border. Akron and Canton are commonly known as twin cities.
The Akron-Canton Regional Airport is one example of this. They are considered separately on the US Census Board but their populations combined exceed around 1,101,900 people. It is the principal city of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The city of Akron came into existence in 1825. It became a manufacturing unit of locks due to its location. The locks were necessary because of the height of the area, which also gave rise to the name Summit County (as well as Akron). Akron, in Greek, means highest.
This business trend fell during the 1970s and 1980s and now the city has spread out into fields like research, high tech and financial divisions.
The weather in Akron changes throughout the year. It has a humid continental climate. Cold winters, with temperatures varying between 50 and 0 degrees. It receives a fair amount of snowfall too. Akron has wet, but colder springs.
Warm and humid summers are a regular feature of the weather in Akron with temperatures between 82 and 61 degrees. The all time record highest temperature recorded in Akron was 104 degrees in 1918, and the all time record low was -25 degrees in 1994.
Akron comprises these neighborhoods: Chapel Hill, Downtown, Elizabeth Park Valley, Fairlawn Heights, Highland Square, Middlebury, Rolling Acres, University Park and Wallhaven, and many more.
The racial composition of this city is 67% White, 28.48% African American, 1.50% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander and 1.16% Hispanic or Latino. The top five places of origin of people residing here are German, Irish, English, Italian and American. The median age in this city is 34 years. Around 14% of families and 17.5% of the population are below the poverty line in this city.
Akron homes two fortune 500 companies: the Goodyear Tire And Rubber Company and Firstenergy. Smaller companies such as GOJO, Advanced Elastomer Systems, Firstmerit Bank, Myers Industries and Acme Fresh Market also reside in Akron.
Akron is full of various restaurants and shopping malls. Situated in the heart of Akron"s downtown is Quaker Square. It was remodeled as a downtown mall in the 1970s.
A well known entertainment and leisure area is Highland Square. It comprises many antique stores, retail shops, taverns and restaurants. Northwest Akron is home to many mansions, like the Stan Hywett Hall, built in the early 20th century for the management of some companies and other industries.
Akron hosts the National Hamburger Festival in the summer.
This pays homage to the invention of the hamburger in this city. The city of Akron also has a number of museums including the Akron Art Museum, American Toy and Marble Museum, The Archives of the History of American Psychology and Musica Concert Club.
Akron city schools provide elementary and secondary education. These are currently undergoing a 15 year, $800 million rebuilding phase. This includes remodeling some schools and completely replacing others.
26000 students study at the University Of Akron which makes it the fifth largest public university in the state. It is the leading university on polymer research.
A $300 million construction project has taken place on the university, including nine new buildings. A new football stadium; Summa Field at Infocision Stadium is currently being built on campus replacing the previous one; The Rubber Bowl.
Akron has the privilege of first witnessing certain events and objects. Namely, some of these are the balloon tire, automobile tires made in the USA, breakfast cereal, US toy company, graded school system in the US, US space suits, and it is the first city home to officers in the country to be equipped and trained with the high tech Israeli gun cornershot.
We built Ticket Luck to provide Akron and other tickets with a unique plan.
Instead of the usual 20% mark up, we decided to go for a 1-2% mark up. At that margin, we don't spend anything on advertizing. If you are lucky enough to find this site, you would have saved a tidy sum for yourself. We hope that we will be successful through word of mouth instead of a massive banner ad. marketing budget.
Our tiny markup pays for the support, the cost of running the website and the toll free number that we provide. We hope to be modestly successful, without being greedy and want you to benefit from our effort. In turn, we hope that you will
pass on the good word and provide us with referrals.
These Akron Tickets have been bought by fans, who could not make it to the show. The brokers that we deal with collect the Akron tickets, and we show you the consolidated version. We do appreciate feedback and whether you want to tell us about Akron Tickets or about our service and idea we sincerely appreciate it. We hope that you will drop us a line, if you like our service. We would love a testimonial too, and would love it on our site. If we can improve
we would love to know about that as well.
