Third Day is a band from Marietta Georgia. It was founded in 1991 by founder members lead guitarist Mark Lee and singer Mac Powell. Being primarily a music band with Christian roots the band name was taken from the fact that Christ was resurrected on the third day after the crucifixion. After the formation of the band Powell and Lee were joined by bassist Samuel Tai Anderson and drummer David Ronald Carr. Two more musicians temporarily played as touring artists with the band namely Jason Hoard on banjo and mandolin and Scotty Wilbanks on keyboards. In 1993 Third Day was pretty much active doing live shows at various local places in and around Atlanta, Georgia. Soon the band was able to sign a recording contract with Reunion Records and the first self-titled studio album was released. It immediately caught attention of the listeners and charted at #24 on US Top Heatseekers and ay #11 on US Christian Albums. It sold around half a million copies earning a gold certification.
The second studio album was named Conspiracy No. 5 that landed at #2 on US Christian and #50 on US Billboard. In 1999 Third Day signed a record deal with Essential Records to released Time. This was the first album by the band to land at the top position on Christian Albums and also earned a gold status. Offerings: A Worship Album is the fourth and only album that went platinum. After that Third Day released five more gold certified albums. The latest album by the band Miracle went in music stores in November 2012. This was at #1 on US Christian Album charts, #3 on US Rock and #10 On US Billboard.
Colton Dixon is young singer who hails from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He learned singing while he was still a child. He was a constant member of the school choir. He has done his graduation from Middle Tennessee Christian School. Dixon has been into professional singing since 2010. He first got noticed when he auditioned for American Idol's tenth season along with his sister but failed to enter the Top 24. He again auditioned for the eleventh season and was selected by the judges. Dixon then went on to cross all the major rounds and eventually got eliminated after getting a 7th place. In early 2013 he released his first studio album titled A Messenger. Primarily a Christian rock and alternative rock album it has till date sold around 40,000 copies and has already toped both US Christian and SU Gospel charts. A number of singles from this album namely "You Are", "Let Them See You", "This is Who I Am", "Love Has Come for Me" and "Never Gone" entered the charts at various positions. Dixon cites bands like The Fray, Switchfoot, 30 Seconds to Mars and Paramore as his major influences.
